My cousin asked me why I'm flying American. Look, having loyalty and a strategy MATTER. Even if you aren't a frequent flyer, sign up for the program. When things happen and you gotta re-book (weather, airspace closures in the Caribbean or Gulf, airport closures in Mexico) having a frequent flyer account- even without high status - can be the difference in getting out.

I've built my loyalty to American over decades and am THISCLOSE to a million miles. Bad weather in Chicago today. Non changeable basic economy fare suddenly changeable for weather waiver. Originally going to Barcelona via London. Offers to pay me to change my London flight. So I called (admittedly my special status 800 number, which matters on days like today) and they changed me to a direct flight to Barcelona leaving 2 hours earlier. That flight is slightly delayed and 🤞🏻it ends up leaving relatively on time. And hopefully someone who needed my seat to LHR gets it and has a better day for it

Thanks to a generous friend, I have access to the Admirall's Lounge and can chill out while I wait.

This is the absolute perfect Alaska tour — for this client. And here's why that distinction matters.

She's a solo senior traveler who did an Alaska cruise last year — not booked through me — on a large ship with lots of bars and noise. Beautiful scenery, but it didn't feel like her trip. The land portion was missing, and she never made it to Denali or Fairbanks. The one excursion she loved? A local guide — not a college kid working there for the summer, but the adult son of a tribal tourism director who could speak to real, everyday life in Alaska. That's the kind of "go beyond sightseeing, live the story" moment that Anne's Excellent Adventures is built around.

🍕 Go beyond sightseeing — live the experience!

A few summers ago, I introduced my niece (technically my cousin's daughter, but she's my niece in every way that matters 💕) to Neapolitan pizza at Chicago's Eataly. This pizza-obsessed pre-teen was skeptical of "authentic Italian" — but one bite and she was hooked. It's been her absolute favorite ever since.

That moment sparked a new family tradition: Napoli pizza-making sessions at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day — any excuse, really. She now asks her mom to take her to the local Italian market just to stock up on ingredients. 🧀🍅

But I wasn't satisfied with my dough. It was good — not great.

Ending your trip on a luxury note can make a vacation. With an upgrade to a suite with two bathrooms, we're ready to settle in to the gorgeous mild temperature and spring green of Park City. Shoulder season here is particularly good and the Waldorf Astoria is exceptional!

Glamping near Zion lives up to the hype. The sky wasn't very starry early last night, but when I woke up around 3 am, just WOW! Incredible night sky, stillness, and quiet except for the chirping of crickets.

Open Sky is wonderful, with luxurious king-sized beds with the softest sheets. I'm in love with the gorgeous rain shower. Dining on property is superb. And little touches like a snack basket and s'mores kit are sweet.

Growing up in Arizona, I'm used to the desert. This desert, however, definitely has more bugs. Note to self, pack bug repellent.
