Maybe experiencing Mardi Gras has always sounded fun…but planning an entire trip to New Orleans specifically for Mardi Gras?

That might not be your thing. 😂

But what if you could get a little taste of Mardi Gras while you were already taking the family to Universal Orlando?

THAT is an option. 💜💚💛

Universal’s Mardi Gras celebration typically runs from early February through early April, and it turns an already great time to visit into something completely different.

🎭 A full Mardi Gras parade with floats and BEADS
🎶 Live concerts on select nights
🍴 Mardi Gras inspired food plus flavors from celebrations around the world
✨ All mixed into your regular Universal Studios park day

And that’s what I think makes this event such a fun one.

You don’t necessarily have to plan a “Mardi Gras vacation.”

You can plan a Universal Orlando vacation and Mardi Gras just happens to be part of the experience.

Ride the rides. Visit the Wizarding World. Spend a day at Epic Universe. Then catch a Mardi Gras parade and leave with entirely too many beads around your neck. 😂

If you’re flexible with when you travel, seasonal events like this are absolutely something I look at when helping my clients choose their dates.

Because sometimes WHEN you go can add a whole extra layer to the vacation you were already planning. ✨

First time at Halloween Horror Nights? 👻

Before you get too distracted by houses, scare zones and snacks, make a quick stop at Guest Services and ask about the First Time at HHN button!

It’s such a small thing, but I LOVE a free little souvenir that commemorates your first HHN. Especially because once you survive your first year…there’s a very good chance you’re coming back. 😂

And yes, Guest Services is right near the front of Universal Studios Florida, so this is an easy thing to knock out when you arrive.

Save this for your first HHN night! 🎃

My favorite form of self care comes with a MagicBand.

Call it a long weekend.
Call it a Disney reset.
Call it whatever you want.

I just know I come home feeling like a better version of myself.
And it turns out there's actual research behind that feeling.

Studies have found that even short vacations can lower stress, improve well being, and leave people feeling happier long after they return home.

Honestly, I'm not surprised.

Sometimes you need a few days where your biggest decision is which park to visit, what snack you're trying next, or whether you're staying for fireworks.

That's not running away from real life.
That's giving yourself a chance to recharge before jumping back into it.

If you've been saying, "We really need to get away," maybe it's time to stop saying it and start planning it.

It’s Smash or…Trash. As in, I probably should have just thrown it in the 🗑️😂

But seriously, food tastes are SO subjective. Take my opinion with a grain of salt and try whatever looks good to you!

A few of my personal smashes:

🍔 The Carn “Evil” Smash Tacos are a MUST if you love a Big Mac vibe.

🥜 Steve’s Smuggled Peanut Butter Bites are a great little sweet treat and three for $10 is a pretty solid value in theme park money.

🧀 The cheesestick and fried pickles are both pretty basic, safe, theme park-esque options. Nothing groundbreaking, but sometimes you just want fried cheese and pickles!

I’ll also fully admit that I’m not brave enough to try some of the more hardcore looking options 😂 the texture on that “ground meat” cake 🥴

For some families, a verandah is absolutely non negotiable.

They want the private outdoor space.
They want coffee out there in the morning.
They want somewhere quiet to sit while the kids are sleeping.
They know they’ll actually USE it.

And if that is important to your vacation, I am absolutely not going to talk you out of it. 😂

But if your biggest priority is getting ON the ship for the lowest possible price?

An interior stateroom can be such a smart option.

Because regardless of where you sleep, you still get to enjoy the ship.

✨ The pools
✨ The entertainment
✨ The dining
✨ The kids clubs
✨ The activities
✨ The incredible destinations
✨ And all the little Disney Cruise Line details that make the experience what it is

Your stateroom does not have to be the most expensive part of your vacation for you to have an amazing cruise.

Some families barely spend time in the room outside of sleeping and getting ready. For them, I would much rather help them get onboard in a category that fits the budget than stretch the trip too far just because they feel like they “should” book a verandah.

And THAT is where working with someone who actually listens matters.

I’m not here to automatically sell you the most expensive room.

I want to know what matters to YOU, where you want to spend your money and what kind of vacation you actually want to have.

Sometimes that answer is verandah.

Sometimes it is interior room + WE’RE GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE. 🙌😂

Both can be the right choice.

It’s the walk back through CityWalk when your feet have officially given up 😂

You can prepare for the houses. You can prepare for the scareactors. But nothing humbles you quite like realizing you wore the wrong shoes and still have a very long walk ahead of you.

Wear comfortable, already broken in shoes. If rain is in the forecast, pack dry socks and a cheap pair of flip flops as backup. Those soaked sneakers might feel manageable at 7pm, but by 1am? Absolute horror.

Do not clown around with your HHN footwear 🤡

Unpopular opinion from someone who literally plans Disney vacations everyday:

Disney planning culture has gotten a little toxic.

Planning is helpful. Knowing your priorities is helpful. But no one should be skipping a fun Food & W**e Festival snack because 4 months ago they decided they HAD to ride Remy at exactly 2:04pm or the entire trip would be ruined 😂

EPCOT’s Food & W**e Festival doesn’t have to replace your EPCOT park day. You can ride attractions, explore the park, AND enjoy the festival booths without turning your vacation into a color coded military operation.

Choose a few must do attractions. Pick the festival dishes you’re most excited to try. Then leave a little breathing room to wander, change your mind, or stop when something smells too good to pass up.

Your vacation plan should make your day easier. It should not make you stress like it's a job. The best Disney plan gives you a general direction while still leaving room to actually enjoy your vacation.

That’s the balance I want for every family I get the pleasure to work with 💕

The most expensive vacation mistake isn't picking the wrong destination.
It's thinking every resort, cruise, or Disney package is basically the same.

That's how people end up saying, "I wish someone had told me..."
I wish I'd known the beach wasn't swimmable.
I wish we'd picked a different resort.
I wish we hadn't paid extra for that upgrade.
I wish someone had explained how this actually worked.

That's where I come in.

My job isn't to sell you a vacation.
My job is to make sure your vacation fits the way you actually want to travel.

I ask the questions booking sites can't.

Do you want a quiet beach or a lively pool?
Do you care more about the room or the location?
Is that upgrade actually worth it for your trip, or is your money better spent somewhere else?

I spend my days learning the details, comparing the tradeoffs, and staying on top of the changes so you don't have to.

Because anyone can take your payment.

Not everyone will help you avoid spending thousands on the wrong vacation.

Orlando may get a lot of the HHN attention around here, but don't let that fool you. Hollywood came READY this year too!

Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood is officially underway on select nights through November 1 and this lineup is definitely not a copy and paste of just what Orlando has!

Hollywood has its own exclusive horrors, including:

🤡 Killer Klowns from Outer Space
🎂 KILLceañera with music by SLASH
💀 Dead, Deader, Deadest
🩸 Terror Tram starring Art the Clown

Plus some familiar houses like Sinners, Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, and Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness!

If you’re deciding between the two coasts, remember that where you go changes what you’ll experience. Hollywood also has several ticket options, including Early Access, Express and the R.I.P. Tour, so a little strategy can make a BIG difference.

I feel like TODAY Cafe gets overlooked way more than it should. 👀

If you’re like me and sometimes just want a GOOD little sandwich, something sweet and a place to sit down without turning lunch into a whole production…this one checks a lot of boxes.

🥪 Solid sandwich and salad options
🍰 Plenty of desserts and pastries because obviously
☕ Coffee if the theme park day is starting to catch up with you 😂
🪑 Plenty of seating
🙌 And overall, just an easy place to grab lunch and regroup for a bit

Not every meal on vacation needs to be a huge character meal, themed experience or reservation you planned 60 days ago.

Sometimes you just need somewhere convenient, comfortable and GOOD before you head back out into the parks.

And honestly, knowing these quieter, easy options can make such a difference in how your park day actually feels.

TODAY Cafe is one I wouldn’t automatically walk past. ✨
