"The Neighborhood" is one more quilt of the row houses pattern by Flavin Glover. You may have noticed that this quilt uses three different Log cabin patterns for the blocks. The block that makes the roof top is the standard block with two colors side by side. The next layer is the roof top and half of 2nd floor of the house. The third row add a different color for the window in the middle of the block. Forth row adds window and half of door on each block. The book may be out of print. I have not been able to find it. As you can see, I loved making them. I made many of them.

"Midnight Cabin Blues" is another log cabin quilt that I turned the blocks in different directions to create the S-shape in the middle. By the time I made this one I was thinking of all kinds of twists and turns with the log cabin block. Hope some of you will try one.

Today I am "Easy Like Sunday Afternoon". I called this quilt "Honey Suckle Rose". This is a special log cabin quilt. I don't remember where I found this pattern (it was in a book) but I immediately fell in love with it. The center was the pattern and I think I adlibbed the outer border with some new blocks that I was dying to try.

"My Street" is another row house quilt using Log Cabin blocks based on how to book by Flavin Glover. (It may be out of print) I embellished by adding shrubbery, some trees and a night sky. The log cabin pattern is one of the most versatile quilt patterns I have found. Have you tried it yet?

I used a pattern from a quilt book by Flavin Glover to create this Quilt. I made several quilts from this pattern. If you like a project that is relaxing and keeps your mind involved, then this quilt project is for you. It takes quite a large amount of time and patience, but I loved every minute of the brain to hands game.

Several years ago my dear friend Marquetta Johnson gave me some plants. Over the years they have flourished. Then over the last year, it seemed to shrink and was dying. Then all of a sudden, it has come back. I noticed them the other day and could only think of Marquetta Johnson. The plants are large and overfilling the pot. I didn't do anything differently. It started right around Marquetta's birthday. It looks like they are trying to tell me something. Thank you Ms. Marquetta for this reminder of your smile and your nurturing spirit.

"Thirty Five." This was made by using a print fabric in half of the block and the other half with a solid fabric (black) to create a jagged stripe effect. I took advantage of my bag of scraps to make a bold colorful stripe. I made this quilt as a gift for my husband on our 35th Anniversary. The quilt is now 12 years old and a little worn but still a lovely use of many many scraps made in the log cabin pattern.

Curved Log Cabin is my tentative name. Sometimes naming the quilts is the hardest part. This quilt gives the illusion of a curved block by using different sizes of the strips. It was a creative math project. I enjoyed it a lot and absolutely loved seeing how it turned out. Truth be told that at one time I thought I was going to create a book of Log Cabin patterns showing the versatility of this block. Who knows-"Dreams Can Come True".

"Steps To My Heart" was more work with different black and white fabrics to create a mood. I made the center block larger than the one on the pattern and altered the size of the other strips. Sometimes you can alter the pattern just a little once you get the hang of the log cabin pattern.

"Marking Time" is another one of my Log Cabin quilts. This one uses the standard log cabin block in rows. I searched for different black and white fabrics that graduated from light to dark to help create the graduating effect.

"The Neighborhood" I am obsessed with the log cabin block's versatility. The log cabin row houses is a pattern that I found in a how to log cabin book. I have made many many log cabin quilts. Can I bore you with a few of them over the next few days? YES!!! Ok thanks. Let's start with this one.

"Uncontained Joy" is what I felt this fabric meant. I loved this print so much that I made a lot of quilts using it. Today, I am feeling that uncontained joy with the gift of life we have been given today. Rejoice in it.

Tea for Two. More fun with hat ladies. I used my go to color orange in a big hat and used the blue as a receptacle of calm. What do you think they are talking about? My imagination ran wild while I was creating them. I love making people and joining their conversations in my imagination while I am working on them.

Give Thanks! #2 Sometimes the feeling hits you because God is so good that you just want to give thanks by breaking out into dance and song. This quilt was inspired by the Alvin Ailey Dancers. Today is a great day. Give Thanks!

Gumbo Ladies #6 Sisterhood. Not only did I make Number 5 and forgot it; I also made a number 6. Last one! Maybe I will be able to make a few more of these in the near future.
