DESTINATION SPOTLIGHT: BONAIRE 🇧🇶 🌊
If Bonaire is on your travel list, here are a few things you’ll want to know before you go!
✈️ Small & Simple Airport
Bonaire’s airport is very small, with just one baggage-claim area. You’ll actually exit the aircraft outside, so don’t expect the typical airport experience!
💳 Tourist Tax
Be sure to pay the $75 per person tourist entry tax online before arrival. Doing this ahead of time can make your arrival process much quicker.
🔌 Bring a Converter/Adapter
The electrical outlets are different from standard U.S. outlets, so make sure you pack the appropriate travel adapter/converter.
🚗 Rent a Car & Explore!
A rental car is a great way to experience Bonaire. The roads are generally easy to navigate, there are no traffic lights, and they drive on the right-hand side of the road, just like in the U.S. 🇺🇸
🌴 Best Time to Visit
Bonaire’s busier travel season is typically December–April.
🛡️ Easy to Explore
Bonaire is known for being a relaxed destination where visitors can drive around and explore different parts of the island. Crime is generally low, but as with any destination, normal travel precautions are always recommended.
🤿 A Diver’s Paradise!
Bonaire is especially popular with divers and snorkelers, with incredible marine life and numerous dive sites. Keep your eyes open for sea turtles, flamingos, parrotfish, and other amazing wildlife! 🐢🦩🐠
