Journey To Africa Safari

Journey To Africa Safari Experienced Safari designer planning meaningful life-changing experiences to Eastern + Southern Africa. Let us show you the magic of Africa. ❤️ Let's chat.

Nothing gives me goosebumps quite like sharing the magic of Africa with others. Through Journey to Africa Safaris, I do exactly that. Hi, I am Mefi and I create life-changing Safaris to my home country of Tanzania and other amazing Eastern and Southern African countries. Majority of the Safaris I plan, I am taking you to places I have been to myself and with partners I trust. During our Safari pla

nning stage, our aim is for you to say, 'that was easy'! Our goal is to cut the overwhelm, make the Safari planning as easy for you as possible, and take you to the right places at the right time, with the right people on the ground. We can't wait to hear your stories on your 'Journey to Africa'.

Moments that make you hold your breath on Safari ✨

Watching elephants is something that can’t really be described until you’ve experienced it yourself. This was from Georgie’s trip to Serian’s in Mara North Conservancy, Kenya. It never gets old.

Let’s get you on your own Journey to Africa, watching gentle giants on the plains 🐘

The Journey to Africa Safari Summer Series 🦁 Some highlights coming up for our Safari-seekers over the next few months — the places, people, and experiences we can't wait for our guests to discover. [Part 4]

🏔️ Summit Safaris: This year we have more adventurous trekkers than ever — including one guest summiting both Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya in the same trip, topped off with a Serengeti Safari. From peaks to plains.

Deep in the Mathews Range in Northern Kenya, Safari looks a little different.

Namunyak is a Community Conservancy - vast, rugged, steeped in Samburu culture. Nestled within the conservancy is magical Sarara. A lodge that has been quietly doing things its own way for years. Days here are spent on foot with your Samburu guide, out on horseback across a landscape that feels like it belongs to another era, learning to bead with the Samburu Mamas, or simply sitting with the scale of it all - the Mathews stretching in every direction and the waterhole beneath the lodge bringing buffalo, elephants and other game for their daily drink ✨

Most guests staying at Sarara also visit Reteti - Africa's first community-owned elephant sanctuary, run by the Samburu community. The trust between the keepers and their elephants is something you don't forget and the community conservation model built here is something to witness.

We have guests heading to Sarara this summer to explore the region and spend time at Reteti - we can't wait for them to experience this magical part of Kenya 🐘

The Journey to Africa Safari Summer Series 🦁 [Part 3] A sneak peek into the places, people, and wonders we can't wait for our guests to experience this summer.

🍷 The Cape, South Africa: We love it when trips include the Cape, either as a gentle yet vibrant start to a trip, or a relaxed and cultural end after a Safari. World-class seafood, wandering vineyards, and surrounded by mountains. It is always a surprising highlight for our guests, and such a great way to start or end a Southern Africa Safari.

This summer we have guests staying at the beautiful Tintswalo Boulders, right near Cape Point in Simon's Town, with views over Boulders Beach [penguin town!] The perfect base to explore the Cape, and one we can't recommend enough.

Safari is an invitation to slow down 🐘

There's something about watching a herd of elephants move through a pink morning sky - unhurried and wise, that resets something in you. Maybe it's the kind of stillness that reminds you what it feels like to actually be present in a busy world of notifications and noise.

Can you guess where this was taken?

If your next trip is calling for presence, connection and views like this, we are ready when you are.

✨ Meeting the Hadza
Something has shifted in the way our guests want to experience Safari, and we are here for it.
More and more, the people we work with want to go deeper. Not just the wildlife, not just the lodges, but the true culture of a place. Who lives here. How they live. What they know.

This summer, we have guests heading to Lake Eyasi in Northern Tanzania to spend time with the Hadza - one of the world's last remaining hunter-gatherer communities. People who have walked this land for thousands of years, living in harmony with their surroundings.

To sit with them. To learn from them. To be welcomed into their world, even briefly, is one of those moments that stays with you and changes you.

We feel so privileged to be able to offer our guests experiences like this, alongside the wildlife and landscapes that East Africa is famous for. Africa is so much more than a Safari. And trips like these remind us exactly why we do what we do.

💚 Meeting the Guides: Always a highlight on Safari. Your guide becomes your source of knowledge, stories, and fun on Safari. You'll share game drive moments that will have you laughing for years.

🌾 The Migration & Beyond in Northern Tanzania: First-timer Safaris and guests going back for more! We can't wait for everyone to experience the herds, the crossings, and the drama of the Northern Serengeti — as well as time spent in other breathtaking parks like the Ngorongoro Crater and elephant-rich Tarangire. Tanzania is where our roots are, and where Journey to Africa Safaris began 25 years ago. These Safaris hold a truly special place in our hearts.

Safari Up Close: The Art of Noticing ✨

The spot on a leopard - solid, bold, unmistakable. The electric blue of a kingfisher's wing. The deep, ancient lines of elephant hide, mapped like a landscape all of its own. The geometric puzzle of a giraffe's coat. The impossibly neat stripes of a zebra. An oxpecker riding a buffalo's back, each one living in quiet symbiosis with the other.

Safari has a way of pulling you out of everything and dropping you completely into the present. Suddenly the small things like patterns, textures, colours, sounds, smells, become the whole thing.

Our one tip? Bring binoculars. Not just for distant plains game, but for the detail. For the tiny grey-headed kingfisher perched in the thorn tree, the texture of bark, the moment you realise how much you've been missing by looking only at the big picture.

Zambia. We love your wild solitude and your breathtaking scenery ✨

When we first traveled there in 2024 - experiencing the lodges ourselves, meeting the teams, feeling the landscape, we came back certain. It earned its place in our portfolio immediately, and it's stayed one of our favourite destinations to plan ever since. Coming from a team with deep East African roots, that means a lot!

What every guest tells us when they return: the wilderness here is unlike anything they expected. No crowds, no compromise. Just remarkable guides, beautiful lodges, landscapes, and wildlife encounters that take your breath away.

These are some of our favorite places to stay across the Lower Zambezi, South Luangwa, and Victoria Falls - each one chosen for the same reasons: outstanding guiding, real warmth, and a sense of place that stays with you.

If Zambia is on the horizon for you, or your just curious about a Zambia Safari, let's begin a conversation ✨
