Nothing gives me goosebumps quite like sharing the magic of Africa with others. Through Journey to Africa Safaris, I do exactly that. Hi, I am Mefi and I create life-changing Safaris to my home country of Tanzania and other amazing Eastern and Southern African countries. Majority of the Safaris I plan, I am taking you to places I have been to myself and with partners I trust. During our Safari planning stage, our aim is for you to say, 'that was easy'! Our goal is to cut the overwhelm, make the Safari planning as easy for you as possible, and take you to the right places at the right time, with the right people on the ground. Bush breakfasts on Safari mean a few things 🦓

Coffee with a view, and dining in the wild - Without a doubt, bush meals are always one of the things that surprise our guests most about being on Safari - there is something so special about being outside for the majority of your meals, watching the world go by in the wild and feeling more and more a part of it all.

This was from Bonnie & Mike's recent Tanzania trip, their guide sent this over to us. So special to see our guests enjoying our favoirite things on Safari.

Even after years of planning Safaris, and going on so many ourselves, we still LOVE to see what our guests are seeing and experiencing, and it makes you realize that every Safari, every moment, every game drive and every sighting is totally unique. That is the beauty of being on safari - it will never be the same as someone else's experience. What you and your guide find out there, what reveals itself in the wild - it is a one of a kind experience that is hard to describe.

Colors, details, textures of Safari ✨ amazing pictures from our guide Godwin, who showed Journey to Africa guests Karl & Marla the magic of Tanzania and taught them a lot about wildlife photography too.

As Karl put it “WOW! What an adventure that delivered so many lifelong memories! The guides, people, lodges, food and of course the wildlife made for such an amazing experience. Thousands of photos to go through. Thank you so much, could not have been better.”

The people that make your Safari ✨

The Middleton's just returned from their Safari to Kenya and Tanzania and it was such a special one. We sat down with them to hear all their stories and it kept coming back to the people. The guides who become like family, the connections made with the teams at camp, the conversations and laughter shared day after day and the way Tanzanians and Kenyans look after children as if they are their own. This was the trip of a lifetime for them all - Mike & Mzia [Bibi & Babu as they affectionately became known to all the teams], their kids and grandkids. Goosebumps.

This Safari was an absolute dream to plan - the Middletons were curious, open-minded and ready for adventure, and when you head on Safari with this mindset, you'll leave with memories that will last a lifetime and a deeper connection to the place.

We are writing a full blog on this Safari as the stories are incredible, we can't wait to share more 🐘

Mark and Leigh sat down with us after their trip to share their Safari highlights, and we could listen to this all day 🦁

From lions acting like house cats to mighty river crossings and the dramatic golden light settling over the plains at sunset. They came home with memories that are still sinking in. As Leigh put it: "How does this even happen?"

Their time at Serian's in the Serengeti was the cherry on top of Mark & Leigh's big mountain adventure and it delivered beyond what they could imagine. Asante to the team at Serian's Lamai for always looking after our guests so well. We can't wait to share more about their climbs too and everything that went into preparations.

Let's Talk Binoculars 🐘

A Safari without binoculars is like running without shoes - you can do it, but they certainly help! Here's our take on why you should invest, or borrow a pair for your Safari! Some lodges have a spare pair in the vehicles, but this is not guaranteed.

Happy World Elephant Day! 🐘

None of this happens without the rangers on the ground every day, our favorite lodges and ground partners backing conservation, and the organizations that show up when elephants and communities collide. Asante sana to all of you — truly.

World Lion Day 🦁

A moment for these iconic big cats of the Savannah. Always a favorite for our Journey to Africa guests, for their goofy, fierce, and often hilarious behavior. As Mark who recently returned from the Serengeti put it, up close, you realize they are just big house cats full of character, family dynamics, and silliness.

Asante sana to all those who work to protect and keep the icons of the bush thriving. Lion populations have plummeted by around 75% in the past 50 years, driven largely by habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict. There are those working hard to recover populations and fight for these iconic big cats. Our ground partners at Nomad Tanzania, working with KopeLion in Northern Tanzania, and our partners at Honeyguide Foundation, are among the projects we support. Hongera sana.
