Seeing a lion in the wild is one of the most coveted safari experiences, and there’s something undeniably special about finding yourself in the presence of adult males.

From the magnificent black-maned males of the Kalahari to the scarred faces of those living in fiercely competitive territories to the awkward young adult males (YAMs) still finding their place in the pride, every lion has a story.

No matter where you encounter them, it’s always a privilege to stand in the presence of royalty.

We were absolutely wowed by our recent stay at Tinajani by Andean in southern Peru!

With just six classy, safari-style tents and a memorable setting dripping with human history and natural beauty, what a perfect retreat while traveling between Cusco and Lake Titicaca!

The spectacular rock formations, exquisite food, and starry night skies viewed from our wood-fired hot tub have created unforgettable memories of our time in southern Peru.

Choquequirao!

Words and photos cannot do justice to the grandeur and intrigue of this forgotten Incan city, the sister city to Machu Picchu.

The physical challenge, spectacular mountain landscapes, and quiet exploration of a true archeological marvel make this one of the world's most challenging yet rewarding adventures for intrepid adventurers.

Once the heart of the Incan empire, one of the greatest civilizations to ever exist in the Americas, Cusco sparks the imagination at every turn.

From impossibly perfect stonework to magnificent Spanish colonial churches and modern culinary delights, Cusco's storied streets beg for slow exploration.

It's not every day you encounter not one, but TWO pods of orcas while exploring the Southern Ocean. And if you do, hopefully you have the good sense to drop everything and go whale watching!

That's exactly what our fearless Antarctic expedition leader did. Instead of sticking to the afternoon's schedule, we launched an impromptu Zodiac excursion, and it turned into one of the most unforgettable wildlife experiences of our lives.

For 45 incredible minutes, we were surrounded by more than two dozen orcas as they swam, surfaced, spy-hopped, and tail-slapped while curiously investigating our boats. They came so close we could hear the explosive sound of their breaths as they surfaced, and at one point several whales glided effortlessly beneath our boats.

Encounters like this are never guaranteed, but they're exactly why we carefully choose the expedition partners we work with. The right crew, the right itinerary, and the right time of year can make all the difference when nature puts on a show.

Happy World Orca Day to one of the ocean's most intelligent and awe-inspiring predators - and thank you for the memories!

One of the things that makes the Galapagos so special isn't just that the wildlife is unique; it's also how close you can get.

Sea lions nap on park benches. Marine iguanas slip through the surf. Tiny Galapagos penguins torpedo through the water while you're snorkeling. Giant tortoises lumber through the lush highlands, ready to retreat into their massive shells at any hint of danger.

Our latest blog succinctly summarizes 10 of the coolest creatures we've encountered in the Galapagos, complete with fun facts and our original photos.

One month old.

Baby black rhinos don't stay this tiny for long, but they're pretty dang adorable while they do.

This little calf captured our hearts as it quietly followed its mother across the grasslands of Kenya's Lewa Conservancy, popping in and out of view as it disappeared behind Mom and the tall grasses.

Even more remarkable was how relaxed Mom was, and how close we were able to observe them from in our vehicle. Black rhinos are notoriously shy and far more cautious around people than their white rhino cousins, making an encounter like this incredibly special.

Sometimes the most unforgettable safari moments aren't the dramatic ones; they're the quiet moments that remind you just how precious wildlife really is.

There's nothing better than hearing from our guests after they return home. Here's what our recent honeymooners had to say about their custom Namibia and Zimbabwe safari:

"Thank you for planning such an unforgettable honeymoon for us! We can't express how amazing this trip was. The people and lodges you paired us with were incredible. The hospitality, accommodations, and ecotourism were truly unmatched to anything we've experienced before."

This honeymoon combined the vast landscapes of Namibia with incredible wildlife experiences in Zimbabwe, creating a journey filled with meaningful connections, exceptional hospitality, and memories to last a lifetime.

One of our favorite parts of their note was hearing that their private guide became more than a guide, he became a friend.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of such an important experience. Wishing you both many adventures ahead!

Happy World Albatross Day!

Black-browed albatrosses spend years crossing the Southern Ocean, returning to the Falkland Islands each season to reunite with their mate and raise a single chick.

We filmed these birds on New Island in the Falkland Islands en route to Antarctica, one of the world's greatest wildlife destinations.

We are thrilled to be a sponsor for Montana Audubon's Wings Across the Big Sky Festival held this past weekend in Kalispell!

We met so many intrepid birders from around the state and country, and enjoyed sharing travel stories with them.

We also saw SO MANY amazing birds on all of the phenomenal birding trips to Glacier National Park and the surrounding areas (sorry, we left the good camera at home!).

Montana truly is a special place for birds and wildlife, and we are proud to support conservation organizations that do so much to protect our incredible backyard for future generations.
