Pet/Biker friendly House on Horseshoe Hill

Pet/Biker friendly House on Horseshoe Hill Smoky Mountain Vacation rental that sleeps 8. Tucked between the Smokys and Nantahala national forest there is a lot to do year round.

My dad built this house and was their primary residence until they passed. The craftsmanship is what sets it apart from other area rentals. Nothing fancy just practical and affordable.

If your interested in history there is a old stone homestead 5 min from the house that was part of the Needmore settlement. You can access it by going to the kayak and fishing area on Needmore rd. Walk past the gate and cross over the small creek. It will be on your left. Can be viewed best during winter months. There are books at the house that give more info on the Needmore settlement.

Located just minutes from the house is the Needmore Suspension Bridge. The bridge stands 360ft across The Little Tenn River. The whole area, as well as Needmore Rd, was named after the Needmore settlement that dates back to the late 1800's. Old timers have told me that the island to the right as you are crossing the bridge is where the settlers kept thier livestock to protect them from the wildlife. Here is a great article with more info on the Needmore settlersand a map to the bridge. There is also a different article framed just inside the front door of the house. Please don't move or stack rock in our rivers. The Eastern Hellbenders life depends on it

Life is tough in a mountain stream.

Rushing waters after a storm, predators on the hunt, and millions of visitors looking to dip their toes in the water.

Recently, an eastern hellbender, the largest salamander in North America, was found crushed beneath rocks that had been moved and stacked by people in the park.

Building dams, channels, or rock stacks might seem harmless, but for the wildlife hiding below, it can be deadly. Beneath those stones are fragile ecosystems: nests, shelters, and homes.

In late summer to early fall, hellbenders lay between 100 to 300 eggs beneath rocks. When rocks are disturbed or removed, entire generations can be lost in an instant.

In the Smokies, everything is protected, even the creatures you can’t always see. Help keep them safe: leave no trace and leave the rocks where they are.
