Looking to book some fun this afternoon? Head over to the town center and pick up a copy of the remaining schedule for The Carolina Mountains Literary Festival. Lots of great authors talking about their work in various downtown venues. AND tickets are still available for tonight's Keynote event at 7 p.m.

If you want a little musical break later this afternoon, head to Homeplace Beer Company for Music in the Mountains.

A light-filled morning in Burnsville!

What's the buzz in Burnsville? Why, yes, the great lobelia has started blooming. They are kin to cardinal flower in case you didn't know.

But the big buzz for hikers is that the trailhead at Bald Mountain Creek Preserve is way overgrown from recent storms. We recommend avoiding this trail until we can get some w**d whacking assistance to clean it up.

We have reached out to the Southeastern Trust for Public Parks and Lands, the group that maintains it so we can get a clean up plan in place.

Several experienced hikers lost the trail this week, myself included..

Fortunately, there are lots of fabulous trails to meander along. Our goal is to not only make sure your meanderings are wondrous, but safe as well.
