Taste Plate Tickets for the 2026 Byron BBQ Fest go on pre-sale Monday, August 24th! This is part of a BLIND people's choice competition, so you get to vote for your favorite BBQ.
Plate includes:
☑️ At least 1 lb of fresh pulled pork (~2 oz each team, at least 8 teams)
☑️ 2 slices of white bread
☑️ 1 vote for your favorite BBQ

How it works:
1⃣ Take your ticket to the Taste Plate Table located near Pavilion #3 to the left of the big playground on Saturday between 12:30pm and 2:30pm
2⃣ Eat yummy BBQ and decide who is the best
3⃣ Vote for your favorite sample at the Tour Byron tent located near Pavilion #3 by Saturday at 3:30pm
4⃣ See who wins on Saturday, September 19th, approximately 4pm at the stage

🎟 A limited number of tickets are available for pre-sale at the Byron Welcome Center and the Historic Train Depot Museum. Tickets will also be sold at the Tour Byron tent during the festival, while supplies last, until Saturday, Sept. 19th at 2pm.

💲Plates cost $20, and profits go to the Battle of Byron! We now take cash and card. No online payments.

We still need cook teams to sign up to compete at the Byron BBQ Fest being held September 18th & 19th, 2026. Anyone can join, and there is NO Georgia BBQ Association membership required to compete.

Never competed before? This is the perfect place to try your hand at competing. According to past cook teams, we are "laid back, but still a good competition." Also, the Byron BBQ Fest is a "great time to try out new things".

Entry is $200 for chicken, pulled pork, and ribs. You will also cook a butt provided by us for the people's choice competition. Go all in and add the Brunswick stew category for $50. We now accept card payments! Just be wary of scams (we do not send invoices or online payment links). You have to call the Byron Welcome Center for over the phone payments.

Payouts:
🥇1st: $1000 | 🥈2nd: $700 |🥉3rd: $500 for each meat category
🏅People's Choice Winner: $100
🏅Brunswick stew: 50% of all entries

The Byron Welcome Center will be CLOSED on Monday, September 7th, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. We will re-open on Tuesday, September 8th!

The Byron Historic Train Depot will be CLOSED on Tuesday, September 8th!

We’re heading out to find some new ideas!!

The Byron Historic Train Depot will be CLOSED this Saturday, August 22nd.

We will be open next week during regular hours at both locations.
