The points dropped since I filmed this so. It’s now an even better points deal for staying at The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands than what I mentioned in the reel.

Here’s the updated math.

Rates now start around 120,000 Bonvoy points per night on the lower end. Book 5 nights and Marriott’s 5th night free drops your total to roughly 554,000 points for the entire stay.

That’s a $12,500 cash booking covered almost entirely on points. The only cash on the entire booking is the speedboat transfer.

You’re getting 2.3 cents per Bonvoy point on this redemption.

The typical Bonvoy floor is under 1 cent per point. That’s roughly 3x the standard value.

Here’s the stack most people will miss.

Chase is running a 55% transfer bonus from Ultimate Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy through June 30.

I’d pay, here’s why. For most people, 1.9 cents per point is great. It’s 90% more value than Chase will typically give you in the travel portal. But for me, I want to get 3-5.0 cents per point or more. I know that seems like a lot to ask for, 300-500% more value. But here’s the thing: I’ve gotten business class redemptions in the 11-12.0 cents per point range. That’s 1,100% to 1,200% more value. So that’s why I set the bar higher for myself. I’d pay for these $124 tickets, earn 4x with the Chase Sapphire Reserve, and save the points for a future redemption
