If you’ve ever dreamed of a cruise that starts in Venice, this is the one thing you need to know before you book.

Since 2021, large cruise ships are no longer permitted to dock in Venice. Depending on your ship and cruise line, you’re most likely departing from Ravenna (2.5 hrs south), Trieste (1.5 hrs northeast), or if you’re on MSC, Viking, or Seabourn, Fusina, just across the causeway from Venice. Knowing this before you get there changes everything about how you plan your arrival.

Here’s how we handle it for our clients: build in at least one extra day in Venice before your cruise. Explore the city on your own terms. Let us arrange the transfer so it’s seamless, not stressful. The port situation doesn’t have to be a surprise. It can be the thing that makes your trip better.

We didn't expect to be writing this post so soon, but here we are.
