On our Alaska trip, we take teens into a landscape that’s home to 17 of the 20 tallest peaks in the U.S., including Denali.

Session 2 of our France & Italy trip just wrapped—and it’s wild how much can fit into 14 days.👇

This group hiked to alpine cabins, explored shepherd villages, climbed across Via Ferrata, rafted rivers, paddled glacier lakes, and helped with local conservation work. They also became more independent, more empathetic, and walked away with a clearer sense of the impact we can have—especially when it comes to protecting the places we explore.

Session 3 starts soon—and we can’t wait to see our final group of teens head out across all our trips. 🌎

20+ Trips. One life-changing summer. Now enrolling for 2026. ⬇️

Hiking past glaciers. Caring for wolves. Teaching English. Surfing rugged coastlines. Immersing in cultures around the world.

Every RLT trip is different, but they all have one thing in common—teens come home changed. They gain confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the world.

Here’s a glimpse at what that looks like in 2026:

🏞 Trekking through the world’s most incredible landscapes
In Alaska, they’ll hike along glacier-fed trails. In Yellowstone, they’ll summit Mt. Washburn and paddle remote rivers. In Scotland and Ireland, they’ll trek through the highlands, kayak hidden lakes, and explore national parks.

🦊 Caring for wildlife and protecting ecosystems
They’ll work with wolves in Colorado, help restore native habitats in Hawaii, and support conservation and rewilding efforts in the Wicklow Mountains.

📚 Immersing in new cultures
In Japan, they’ll explore Kyoto and Tokyo, hike Mt. Fuji, and take part in meaningful service. In Spain and Thailand, they’ll cook with locals, learn from artisans, and connect through shared work and community.

We’ve added four new adventures for 2026:

🌊 California: Pacific Sun

RLT teens are serving all over the world.👇🌎

These photos are from our Puerto Rico trip, where teens are working with local partners to restore a native garden—removing invasive plants, replanting local species, and bringing the space back to life.

This kind of hands-on service happens on nearly every RLT trip. Teens teach English. Prep meals. Paint classrooms. Care for animals. Harvest crops. Spend time with kids. Help maintain shared community spaces.

Every project is planned by our local partners—
which means the work actually meets a need and makes a difference. ✨

That pretty much sums up our first round of trips.

From Alaska to Greece to Puerto Rico, our teens are building real friendships, stepping into unfamiliar places, and doing hard things—together. They’re showing up for each other, for the communities they’re serving, and for themselves.

These trips aren’t designed to be easy. They’re designed to mean something. To build confidence, courage, and empathy—and help teens grow into the kind of people the world needs more of. 💜

Before any RLT trip launches, we scout the entire experience—start to finish.

Nicole Smart, our Director of Admissions, just returned from Morocco. She walked the mountain roads where our students will do service. She met with our local partners. She rode camels into the Sahara and explored the medinas of Marrakech—making sure every piece of the trip is meaningful, safe, and ready.

This July, we’re going back—with RLT teens.

That’s a wrap on 2025 staff training!👇

For ten full days our leaders have practiced every skill they’ll need this summer—wilderness first responder care, lifeguard rescues, mental-health first aid, risk planning, active listening, and clear group communication. They worked hard, laughed a lot, and built a team they can count on.

Today they’re heading to their program sites. They’ll hike each trail, inspect every campsite, stock every medical kit, and connect with local partners so everything is ready when the first group of teens arrive.

We can’t wait to welcome our teens and change some lives. 💕

Safety is everything to us. 👇

It’s why we keep our groups small. Why we have one of the highest leader-to-teen ratios in the industry. And why our staff training is one of the most detailed and in-depth out there.
That’s what the past few days have been all about.

Our leaders have gone from certification to real-life practice—running medical scenarios, reviewing evacuation plans, prepping med kits, and walking through every single trip form. They’ve talked through what to do when a teen is struggling. How to manage group behavior. How to make decisions when there’s no script.

This isn’t training for the sake of training. It’s preparation—for real trips, with real responsibility, and real care.
