After a few days of rest and respite over Christmas, we returned to the build this weekend. After prepping more ceiling wood Friday and Saturday, we started hanging t&g in the great room today. Happy New Year from !

More exciting progress at today. The guys from Royal Roofing finished the metal roof on both carports, and Gina got two coats of stain on the West cabin stairs. We'll be screwing deck boards down under the lights tonight - almost 60F tomorrow, but 4 inches of snow expected on Thanksgiving Day. We're racing time and the elements!

Great progress this weekend at . Gina's dad and I kicked things off Thursday building a wind/privacy screen on the East deck. We then turned our attention to steps for the West building, wrapping up that project Friday afternoon. Gina and I then hit the painting job on the East building hard, wrapping up everything by Sunday night. Winter is paying a visit in just a few days - we'd like to get things completely stained outside before cold weather hits. Up next? Applying finish to the wood we're using for the ceiling. Getting the lid finished will be a major milestone. Go, go, go!

As we get deeper into the build, I'm beginning to understand the advantages guests will realize when they stay with us at just outside of . With night views like this from the front deck, we'll understand if you want to relax and stay a while...

Decks are nearly complete on both units. Next up: sand and stain both decks, then build stairs. Sheetrock should start this week on the East unit now that HVAC is roughed in. keeps chugging toward completion!

One advantage of building on property adjacent to our country home is sitting back at the end of a long day and surveying a job well done. Our Creator created us to work, to create, to build - it's fulfilling to see the work of your hands raise something that will hopefully one day bring joy and peace to others. I hope He is pleased with our efforts...
