Juneteenth commemorates a freedom
already won,
yet not fully known.
I’ve been who I am for a long time.
My strength wasn’t born this year.
My wisdom didn’t suddenly appear.
My story didn’t begin
when others
started paying attention.
I’ve always been here.
The difference
I’m finally learning
2 give myself
the attention,
the grace,
and honor I deserve.
This weekend, I had the pleasure of sharing space with some truly remarkable souls.
Different paths.
Different generations.
Different stories.
Yet somehow, our lives intersected in ways that felt both unlikely and divinely intentional.
There was laughter.
There were conversations that lingered.
There were moments that reminded me that community can appear when you least expect it.
As someone who doesn’t venture out very often, you all made this weekend one to remember.
Thank you for your kindness.
Thank you for your presence.
Thank you for allowing a seasoned lady to share a little space in your journey.
I left encouraged.
And as I reflect on Juneteenth—a celebration of freedom, possibility, and becoming—I find myself grateful for the people who remind us that it is never too late to be seen, appreciated, or fully embraced for who we are.
I am proud of each of you.
Praying for your next steps.
Praying for open doors.
Praying that you continue to walk boldly into every blessing with your name on it.
