25 years ago, I was getting ready to go to my Tuesday morning 1102 Lit class. The Thursday before, my PolySci professor told us that we would never live through a life changing event and we should consider ourselves lucky. Over the weekend, I was in NY 🍎 to watch my sister perform in a Schick Razor Karaoke 🎤 contest. She came in 2nd 🏆 and we flew home on Sunday September 9th. So on the 11th, I was back into the grind. Everything was quite in the North GA mountains ⛰️ and when we got to class we heard the news. Everyone froze in the hallway and after a minute we slowly walked back to our dorms to turn on the TV 📺. I tried to call my dad but it took a while for the phone call to go through. Everyone was calling 📞 everyone they knew. On Thursday when we went back to PolySci, our professor apologized for being so wrong.

When did College get so confusing 😕 🤔? When I went to college 26 years ago (man I'm old) I went with no AP credits and no dual enrollment. I started at zero. Now kids are taking every AP class (most don't count or you have to make a certain score to get the credit) and they are taking dual enrollment for every class they can. Why? It's crazy 🤪 Who told them they couldn't enjoy school? High school or college? Yes grades are important. Yes getting a good job is important. But slow down and breath. Today has been spent helping J figuring out how many college credits he could have by graduation. 🎓 But we also discussed that it's okay if he doesn't pass the AP exam with the grade he needs to get the credit. He's excited about college. He wants the whole experience and he doesn't want to rush. And we are here for it.
