Losing your signal in a foreign city or racking up a huge cell phone bill is stressful. Before your next trip, download your area to Google Maps offline so you still have directions, addresses, and your hotel location even with zero bars.

Do this before you leave, not while you're standing in the airport hunting for WiFi.

Credit card travel insurance sounds free, until you actually need it. Low limits, strict rules, no pre-existing condition coverage.

Real travel insurance costs more but protects more. Don't gamble on "free."

Quick Thursday travel tip... Check your passport expiration as soon as you start planning your trip. The last thing you need is to be scrambling to renew it right before you leave!

One of my favorite travel tips has nothing to do with packing.

Before you leave, stock your freezer with a couple of easy meals. After a long travel day, you'll thank yourself when dinner is already taken care of instead of making a grocery run or ordering take out.
