Friday + a long weekend ahead = a pretty good combination. 💚😎

Whether your Labor Day weekend includes a little road trip, time on the water, grilling with friends, catching up around the house, or doing absolutely nothing for a change…I hope it’s a good one!

I’m officially voting for less alarm clocks and at least a little time spent doing something you enjoy.

A little look at what’s on my travel-planning desk right now…

✈️ Alaska 2027 — a family group adventure
🏔️ Alaska 2028 — my own group aboard Holland America
🌺 Hawaii — a multigenerational celebration trip
🇯🇵 Japan — a family adventure
🇬🇷 Greece — twice, including my 2027 group
🇪🇬 Egypt — an anniversary journey
🎄 New York City — Christmas in the city
🚢 Graduation cruises — a couple of celebrations already in the works

And that’s only part of what’s currently being planned.

One of my favorite things about this business is that no two trips are alike. One day I may be working through the details of a family journey to Japan, the next I’m planning an anniversary in Egypt, coordinating a multigenerational Hawaii vacation, or helping a group get ready to experience Alaska.

Different destinations. Different reasons for traveling. Different people and priorities.

That’s what makes creating each journey so interesting.

Alaska has definitely been on the travel radar this past week! 🏔️🛳️

We booked two Alaska adventures for 2027 and 2028, and we’re also working on a family group for another unforgettable journey north.

And looking ahead to 2028, we’ll be holding our own group space for Alaska as well. More details will be coming once everything is in place.

Alaska is one of those destinations that seems to live on everyone’s bucket list—the glaciers, wildlife, mountains and scenery really are something special.

So maybe it’s time to stop saying “one day.”

Alaska is on the bucket list. Let’s get it checked off. ✅🏔️

Last night was a great reminder of just how valuable it is to keep learning, connecting and experiencing our industry beyond the day-to-day. And sometimes just to get away from the desk 😎

I had the pleasure of attending an event hosted by the ASTA Greater Houston Chapter and Barbados Tourism Board with Sandals Resorts and Princess Cruises joining us as well.

I learned so much about beautiful Barbados—an island I somehow haven’t made it to yet! Did you know Sandals has two resorts on Barbados? And Princess Cruises actually offers sailings from and to the island, opening up some really interesting possibilities for seeing more of the Southern Caribbean.

Beyond learning about the destination, evenings like this are one of the reasons I value my involvement with ASTA so much. The education is important, but so are the relationships—connecting with tourism partners, suppliers and fellow travel advisors, sharing ideas and continuing to grow professionally.

A big thank you to the ASTA Greater Houston Chapter and Barbados Tourism Board for the warm hospitality and such an informative evening. I came home with plenty of new ideas and an even longer travel wish list.

Barbados may need to move toward the top of that list very soon. 🇧🇧

A little travel for the travel advisor! 😊

I’ll be leaving the office early today to take care of some business in Lake Charles. Then tomorrow, I’m off to Houston for an ASTA vendor event—an opportunity to connect with travel partners, learn what’s new, and bring fresh ideas back to my clients.

I’ll return Friday afternoon. My availability will be limited while I’m away, but please leave me a message, and I’ll respond as soon as I can.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of DeRidder for inviting me to speak yesterday. I enjoyed sharing “Alaska Through My Eyes” and revisiting some of the scenery, wildlife, history, and memorable moments that make Alaska such an extraordinary place.

Having experienced Alaska both as a place we once called home and multiple times since as a visitor, I’ve learned that you can return again and again and still see something differently each time.

I was too busy enjoying the conversation to get any photos during the presentation, so I’m sharing a few favorite Alaska images of our 2026 trip instead. 😊

Thank you again for the warm welcome and the opportunity to share a little of a place that has meant so much to me over the years.
