Currituck County lifts its mandatory evacuation for the off-road areas north of Corolla at noon today! The state of emergency has also been rescinded. Please travel as close to low tide as possible, as the tide will continue to run higher than normal. Use caution when driving on the beach as storm debris is present.

Lots of people have expressed concerns about the horses during the storm. Edward just caught a glimpse of some among the live oaks in Carova Beach.

This morning’s high tide was kinder than it could have been for us here on The Northern Outer Banks. The evacuation order for the off-road areas north of Corolla is still in place. For all other guests with us in other areas, use caution if you go down to the beach. Check the security of any dune walkways before using them, as they could have been compromised by the erosion of the dune structure.

Wednesday evening Hurricane Erin Update: Mandatory evacuations remain in place for the off-road area north of Corolla and for Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands. Expect Tropical Storm conditions by tomorrow morning.

Last night around 9 PM, Currituck County issued a mandatory evacuation order for the Off Road area north of Corolla beginning at 9AM Wednesday, August 20th.

Good Morning! If you are staying in the 4x4 area, today is the best day to get up and down the beach. Seas will continue to build and driving conditions will deteriorate over the next couple of days before improving Friday after Erin is forecasted to pass by. We will continue to keep you updated as we monitor Hurricane Erin.
