Announcement - Spirit Airlines Shutting Down Immediately!

It is with great disappointment that on May 2, 2026, Spirit Airlines started an orderly wind-down of our operations, effective immediately. To our Guests: all flights have been cancelled, and customer service is no longer available. We are proud of the impact of our ultra-low-cost model on the industry over the last 34 years and had hoped to serve our Guests for many years to come.

Check on your flights for the summer. Many are being canceled and fees are going up.

✈️ Norse just canceled all summer flights from LAX

✈️ Lufthansa airlines just canceled 20,000 flights happening between April and October

✈️ KLM has canceled 160 flights between May and September

✈️ Aer Lingus is cutting flights to certain destinations

✈️ AirAsia X has canceled many flights, and they're also charging a 20% fuel surcharge for future bookings

✈️ Air New Zealand is cutting flights in May and June

✈️ American Airlines is raising baggage fees to compensate for fuel cost (or maybe just because they can)

✈️ Alaska Airlines is doing the same

✈️ Delta Airlines is also raising baggage fees

✈️ Frontier is talking about cutting routes

Well this is exciting! I have lots to do to accept the nomination and proceed with the program, but I’m grateful someone acknowledged all of my hard work over the years. I am putting just as much focus and energy into my travel agency. Let me know if you want to plan a trip!

Just in case you are in these countries.

They came for vacation. Then airspace closed and flights were cancelled. Instead of chaos, the UAE told every hotel: don't check them out. We're paying.

Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism sent a directive to every hotel in the emirate: extend stays for guests who can't leave and send us the invoice. Dubai issued a parallel order hours later. The reason? Airspace closures and mass flight cancellations across the Gulf left over 20,000 passengers stranded.

The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the state is covering all accommodation and meal costs for affected travelers. Private companies joined in too – holiday rental firms in Dubai opened apartments for free, and within hours, over 250 hosts followed.

No panic pricing. No airport floors. No "figure it out yourself." Just a government picking up the tab until every stranded tourist can go home. That's how you handle a crisis.
