📅 Wednesday, August 19, 2026
Downtown Enterprise will welcome Main Street leaders, community representatives and economic development professionals from across Alabama next week as Main Street Alabama hosts its annual statewide conference, the Summit of Excellence, August 19-21. 🏛️📍🌟
The three-day conference will bring representatives from 36 designated Main Street Alabama communities, along with numerous network communities, to Enterprise for educational sessions, professional development, networking and opportunities to experience the city's downtown district.
“The City of Enterprise, Ala. is honored to welcome Main Street communities from across Alabama to our city,” said Mayor William E. Cooper. “This conference is an opportunity to showcase the progress we have made in Downtown Enterprise while learning from communities that are working toward many of the same goals. We are proud of the partnerships and community investment that continue to move Enterprise forward.”
Enterprise was designated as a Main Street Alabama community in 2019. Since then, Main Street Enterprise, the City of Enterprise, local businesses, volunteers and community partners have worked together to support downtown revitalization and create new opportunities for residents, businesses and visitors.
“We are excited to finally welcome everyone to Enterprise for the Summit of Excellence,” said Lily McDaniel, Main Street Enterprise Executive Director. “Hosting this conference allows us to showcase our downtown, but it also gives us the opportunity to learn, connect and share ideas with other communities across the state. We are grateful to everyone who has played a role in making Downtown Enterprise what it is today.”
The conference officially begins Wednesday, Aug. 19, with optional walking and photography tours of downtown Enterprise, followed by registration and an afternoon session at the Enterprise Farmers Market. Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience downtown Enterprise during the evening.
The Nook in Downtown Enterprise will also host live music as part of its Nook at Night programming on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, with the events open to the public. Weston Watson will perform Tuesday at 6 p.m., followed by Ian Barry on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Many downtown businesses will also extend their hours until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, providing conference attendees and community members an opportunity to shop, dine and enjoy the downtown district while helping welcome Main Street guests to Enterprise.
Thursday's conference programming will include sessions on storytelling, economic development, placemaking, leadership and community engagement. The day will conclude with the Toast to Heroes reception and Main Street Alabama Awards of Excellence Banquet at the Enterprise Civic Center.
“We are excited to showcase the hospitality, businesses and experiences that make Enterprise special,” said Tammy Doerer, Director of Tourism and Community Relations. “Hosting visitors from communities across Alabama provides an excellent opportunity to introduce them to our downtown, encourage them to shop and dine locally and show them what Enterprise has to offer.”
The conference will conclude Friday, Aug. 21, with a roundtable discussion for designated executive directors. For more information about the Summit of Excellence and registration, visit Main Street Alabama's website.
