CARNIVAL CRUISE PASSENGER CHARGED AFTER LOCKING THE CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN INSIDE HER CABIN FOR 14 HOURS

MIAMI, FL — Carnival Cruise Line officials charged passenger Crystal Dawn Voss, 33, Saturday morning aboard the Carnival Horizon after she allegedly wheeled the Lido Deck's 4-tier chocolate fountain off the buffet line at 12:08 a.m., rolled it 5 decks down via the service elevator, and held it hostage inside her balcony cabin for 14 hours of "personal access."

Per the report, Voss had reportedly been informed earlier in the cruise that "the chocolate fountain shuts off at 10." She did not accept this.

Per witnesses and the arrest report:

- Voss distracted the line cook at the dessert station by asking him to explain "what counts as a mousse versus a pudding"
- She wheeled the fountain — still running, still warm — past the soft serve, into the service corridor, and onto an unsecured staff elevator using a Carnival lanyard she had borrowed
- The fountain was reported missing at 12:36 a.m. after a couple from Indiana noticed "the chocolate had stopped flowing"
- A bellhop reported seeing a woman in a robe pushing "what appeared to be a brown waterfall" down the Deck 7 hallway
- Voss set the fountain up in her cabin in front of the TV, plugged it back in using the hair dryer outlet, and watched 5 episodes of Love Island USA while dipping fruit, churros, croissants, bacon, a slipper, and her room key
- She FaceTimed her mother at 3:48 a.m. and panned the camera across the fountain saying "this is mine now"
- The fountain ran for 14 consecutive hours, eventually triggering the cabin smoke detector
- Carnival security entered at 2:14 p.m. and found her asleep on the bed with a half-eaten pineapple chunk on her chest
- The fountain was returned to the Lido Deck where staff renamed it "FREEDOM"

Carnival security officer Maeve Donnelly said: "She wheeled a 4-tier fountain 5 decks. She plugged it into the hair dryer outlet. I've done this job 9 years. This is the most committed dessert theft I have ever processed."

Voss told reporters: "It said unlimited. I took that personally."

She was charged with theft of cruise property and disorderly conduct. Held on $1,200 bond at port.

The chocolate fountain declined to comment.

One of the top things that drive me crazy. If you would like to lounge in your pjs or robe for breakfast, order room service. My personal opinion is it’s about having a little class. I know, I’m bougie. Don’t care. 🤣
