Take the trip while in Alaska if you have the time. One suggestion is to put part of your group on in Fairbanks and then the rest drive down to Denali National Park.  Meet at the park to have a good time. Then the other part of your group can get on the train coming back to Fairbanks.  It’s one way to include the train in a shorter trip and have both a rail and road trip from Fairbanks to Denali.

I was super excited to get this photo yesterday. Not only is this a swan, but it is a TUNDRA swan which are rare in Fairbanks. It is the first I've seen this year and I only saw one or two last year. Their migration route does not generally take them through Fairbanks. There were probably 100 Trumpeter swans on the fields yesterday and from what I and others could see only this one Tundra swan. They are identified by the yellow on the beak. Also the top of the beak on the forehead forms a "U" whereas on the trumpeter it forms a "V". And most notably when next to a Trumpeter, these guys are significantly smaller.

Spring is officially here! These two Trumpeter Swans touched down here at Creamer's Field just after 4 pm today!

Please stay out of the plowed front viewing field so more migratory birds can gather to feed and rest!

Reach for the light!! Today, February 26th, is the first day that the sun sets in Fairbanks after 6pm! Just a few minutes shy of 10 hours of sun above the horizon! We will gain 7 minutes more light per day as we hurtle towards summer 🌞
