We have had the absolute best luck on this cruise! The crew and the locals have all told us how unusual it is to see sunshine and warm temps this time of year so we have been soaking in as much as we can. Yesterday’s stop was Ketchikan. And it was another gorgeous, sunny day! We walked all over town and then sat on the patio of the Arctic Bar for lunch and had the best burger from Burger Queen! Plus we got to see the Salmon swimming up the Salmon ladder on Creek Street. And we topped off the day with a Disney Cruise Line special performance of the The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show, complete with “coach” Goofy on hand for warm ups before the show. Such a great day!

Yesterday we were in Icy Strait Point (Hoonah) and had every intention to just explore on our own. But at the last minute we decided to grab the last two seats on the Hoonah Travel Adventures whale watching tour and I’m so glad we did!!! We had the most amazing time! We saw Orcas, Dall’s Porpoise and of course Humpback Whales. Even the guides were excited by the amount of wildlife we saw and how gorgeous the weather was. We have been so blessed on this trip!

Today in Skagway was perfect weather!!! September is usually rainy and cold. The morning started a little brisk but it turned out to be a beautiful day! We didn’t take an excursion today but instead decided to wonder around town and enjoy it like a local. We found some fun spots for food and shopping and just soaked up the sunshine!

Wrapped up the afternoon with some beautiful glacier views! The crew said this sunshine is not the norm this time of year so we’re extra thankful for it! Apparently it rained all day on last week’s visit.

I feel like a little kid at Christmas! The weather today is spectacular and the sun reflecting off the water is just gorgeous! We’ve seen whales, icebergs, Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy and it’s only noon. We haven’t even made it to the glacier yet. Now we’re taking a moment to just take it all in from our balcony while we do some work.

You never know what you’re going to see on an Alaska cruise! I was standing on our balcony filming the scenery when this whale suddenly appeared. Alaska definitely has a way of surprising you. Who do you know that would love to experience something like this?
