Another dispatch from the enclosure of 4-legged family members!
Meet GIBSON!!!!!!
GIBSON is a LaMancha goat. And yes, he does have ears! They are just extremely small and the most striking feature of this breed of goat. Gibson is also a dairy goat. He is the (half) brother of RIck. Not expected since they look so different! LaMancha are the only breed of dairy goats that were developed in The US. Gibson is the most social of all the goats but also the most bossy. Watch out for him when trying to give pets and/or treats! He will do whatever it takes to keep the other goats away. Not cool man! We still love him though. He is definitely a mama’s boy, prefeing time spent with mom over anything else.
Yes! Sometimes the boy goats have one horn growing and the other one not, or have little stubs, some might be curled. This is a result of the efforts to disbud the boys horns. Livestock vets have learned the best way to keep goats from harming each other and/or themselves is to disbud them when young. There is a large chance when doing this the horns will grow back but this still is the best way to prevent excessive injury.
