One thing I will splurge on is a room with a view in certain places. This particular view was in Canada at Niagara Falls. Traveling with a fellow broke teacher, we could only stay here one night and had to move to another cheaper hotel for the remainder of our trip- but the nighttime and early morning views from my BED were worth every penny. Memories are priceless.
