An outdoor Sundance Film Festival advance premiere in FoCo 📍 🎞️ 🍿

The Lyric, a locally owned, eclectic independent movie theater and creative community hub in Fort Collins, hosted a special advance screening of the movie The Weight on Monday, August 31, 2026.

700+ showed out. Amazing showing by the community that embraces art & film 🙌

Director Padraic McKinley and actor Julia Jones appeared for an extended introduction and Q&A. Additionally they held a panel on the Colorado State University campus prior.

Presented by the The Sundance Institute and The Lyric 🚀 , in partnership with the CSU’s ACT Human Rights Film Festival, Michael David Cain, CSU College of Liberal Arts, and Visit Fort Collins, with support from Vertical Entertainment.

It is thrilling to imagine the incredible momentum the Sundance Film Festival will bring to our local filmmakers!

Coming to our Advance Screening of The Weight on Monday August 31 with ? This is going to be a very busy event, so just a few reminders for our new visitors and our regulars!

Arrive early! Want to snag the best seat on the lawn, we recommend arriving early! We will have live music from Caves duo starting at 6:15 to keep you entertained!

Parking is limited. There is additional parking one block north on Hickory or across College on Conifer. We strongly recommend you take an Uber/Lyft, or ride your bike if you can!

We have some seating outside but feel free to bring your own if you'd like! Chairs, blankets, inflatable living room set (space allowing) - we want you to be comfortable!

Going along with that - outdoor shows happen rain or shine, so be prepared - blankets, layers, bug spray, etc. are all encouraged!

Please do not bring in outside food and drink. We have delicious concessions available. If you bring in your own, you will be asked politely, but firmly to leave.

Lastly - a reminder to please treat all your fellow humans with patience and kindness. Our staff is doing their absolute best to take care of you all night long, but on busy nights sometimes lines get long. Strike up a conversation with the person next to you and enjoy the wonderful weirdness that is the Lyric!

A few reminders before you paddle out:
🦺 Life jackets are required for everyone on board — no exceptions
🅿️ Check access points ahead of time (Lory State Park has multiple entry spots, plus other boat ramps/marinas around the reservoir)
🌤️ Watch the wind — conditions can shift fast on open water

Don’t own a board? No problem — Rocky Mountain Paddleboard has you
covered with rentals so you can get out on the water without the gear hassle. 🏄

Every day is a splash pad day in Old Town Square☀️💦

The pop jets are on daily from 8 am to midnight from May through September, weather dependent. In the evening, enjoy the splash pad light show from 8 pm to midnight. The splash pad may also be closed during special permitted events in Old Town Square. Follow Downtown Fort Collins on Instagram or Downtown Fort Collins on Facebook for regular announcements.

No trip to Downtown Fort Collins is complete without a visit to Old Town Square!

Only in FoCo: Bier Touren

It's no secret - Fort Collins is a brewery destination. In fact, Fort Collins is responsible for 70% of Colorado's craft b**r. And with over 20 craft breweries to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start as you try to experience the brewery scene. Luckily, Bier Touren makes it easy! Bier Touren is a new all inclusive brewery expedition in Fort Collins. Their four-hour tour takes you to three brewery stops on their vintage Swiss Pinzgauer, so you don't have to worry about driving. More than enough drink tickets and a full meal is included in your ticket price. All you have to do is have fun!

☝️Week ➡️ Tour de Fat 🚲 🍺 🎶

Tour de Fat is an annual bicycle, b**r, and music festival hosted by New Belgium Brewing. The 26th annual flagship event takes place in Fort Collins, Colorado, on August 29, 2026, featuring a massive costumed bike parade, live music, and slow-ride contests to raise money for local cycling nonprofits.

Parade Kickoff:
Starts at 9:30 AM from City Park in Fort Collins, looping down Mountain Avenue.
The Party: Gates open at the brewery around 11:00 AM / 12:00 PM with craft b**r, games, and entertainment.Attire: Wild, creative costumes matching the “come as you are” spirit.
