Eating gluten free can be indulgent too.

2025 wasn’t the year celiac disease was cured.

It was the year we stopped pretending the gluten-free diet fixes everything.

In 2025, it became harder to ignore that:
• Many patients remain symptomatic despite strict adherence
• Intestinal inflammation can persist even with “perfect” compliance
• The gluten-free diet is nutritionally incomplete without active management
• The mental load of constant vigilance is measurable — not imagined

The gluten-free diet reduces exposure.
It does not treat the autoimmune process.
That distinction matters.

Drug development continued in 2025 — slowly and cautiously — with the goal of reducing damage and risk, not handing out permission to eat gluten.
At the same time, “gluten-friendly” faced overdue scrutiny.
There is no medical standard.
Cross-contact is real.
Good intentions do not equal safe food.

Also, gluten free Cheese-Its - which will be all everyone will talk about in January. :-)

Celiac disease didn’t magically improve in 2025.
But the conversation did.
And that shift might actually lead somewhere.

There's no way around it - if you have celiac disease, consuming gluten causes damage to your small intestine, whether or not you're showing noticeable signs and experiencing debilitating symptoms. 🤷‍♀️

The immune system of someone with celiac disease will mount an attack on the finger-like projections in the small intestine called villi. They become blunted and unable to absorb nutrients appropriately, which leads to other health problems down the road. ⚕️

The only effective treatment is a strict gluten-free diet. We see that as a blessing not a curse, because it puts the future of your health back in your own hands! 🙌
