Day 5: Day trip to Grindelwald

Made our way up to Grindelwald First via cable car. The fog and clouds were not cooperating, so we enjoyed lunch hoping the views would improve. Our server, Micheal, helped us manifest some better weather and it worked! The views of the surrounding mountains were amazing!!

Day 4: Morning paragliding and day trip to Lauterbrunnen

Started out the day with an adrenaline rush. We ran off the mountain with our paragliding pilots and took in the amazing views of Interlaken from above. In the afternoon, we rode the quick train to Lauterbrunnen. We enjoyed a beautiful hike to Trummelbachfalle where we got to experience the only glacier-waterfalls inside the mountain still accessible in Europe. We made the most out of the day before the rain moved in.

Day 3: Wrapped up in Lucerne and headed to Interlaken

Spent this morning on a self guided walking tour of Lucerne, hitting the highlights. Grabbed breakfast, walked along the city walls and visited the Lion Monument. In the afternoon, we caught a train to Interlaken and went straight to the highest point, Harder Klum. We had the most amazing views! After dinner we came back to the city and enjoyed some local bars.

Day 2: Stoos and Rigi

After catching up on some sleep we crammed a lot into one day. We started the day by making our way up to Stoos using the steepest funicular in Switzerland. After taking in the amazing views we made our way to Rigi Mountain. As we descended down the mountain we stopped at a cheese hut to enjoy some fresh local cheese. We made our way back to Lucerne by cogwheel train and boat.

Day 6 - Last day on Safari and it was perfect!! We descended into the Ngorongoro Crater just after sunrise in search of the last animal to complete the Big 5 - the black rhino. By 11am we had found ALL of the Big 5 - Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Lion, Elephant and Leopard. Our guide has been guiding for 16 years and it was a first for him! We were even told in advance that we likely wouldn’t see a leopard in the crater. What an incredible way to end our trip!! Photo credit - my iPhone 😉

Day 5 - Today, we traveled from the Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater, en route we experienced the Great Migration, considered the greatest show on earth. This phenomenon involves over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles in the world's largest continuous overland herd movement. The magnitude of this experience cannot be captured by photos or videos alone! We saw many other animals along the way and enjoyed a gorgeous sunset on the lodge terrace. 10 out of 10!!

Day 4 - Early morning wake-up call. Started with an amazing sunrise and hot air balloon safari, followed by breakfast in the bush. Today’s game drive added another one of the "Big 5" to the list - the leopard. Spent the afternoon enjoying the lodge pool and a massage. Tonight’s dinner was a delicious barbecue.

Day 3 - As we drove to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and onto Serengeti National Park, the wildlife did not disappoint - sightings of baboons, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, cheetahs, ostriches, Cape buffalo, hippos, elands, and several majestic big cats. This unforgettable experience was complemented by a visit to a Maasai village, where we gained a deeper understanding of the customs and way of life of Tanzania's most celebrated tribe.
