Meet someone who believes luxury belongs in Fort Smith, and the spotlight belongs on everyone but himself.

Nick Maestri is the force behind Superior Pawn & Jewelry, the luxury store that's turned Fort Smith into a destination for fine jewelry, watches, and one-of-a-kind finds that people drive in from across the country to see. He opened in 2015 with a single dream—to bring this city luxury as it had never known. He'd grown up on shows like Pawn Stars, but that was never the whole story; he just knew Fort Smith needed something higher-end and one of a kind. What set Superior apart was the part most pawn shops skip—he got on social media. He stayed consistent, crediting Larry and a chance conversation with Joey, who showed up to talk Google Maps and left, shooting videos a few times a week. Two years sober and still climbing, Nick built it the hard way—and from the custom ring you've dreamt of to the watch you deserve, he takes care of you every step. 💎

Off the clock, Nick eats his way through town—Thai curry, the patio at Doe’s Eat Place Fort Smith, Peking Palace and Sh**un Steakhouse on Rogers, and Blupoint Seafood & Steak, with La Huerta Grill on Garrison as his daughter's pick. He's the first to point the spotlight back at the community he loves, the friendliest people around, he says, and he's got zero patience for "there's nothing to do here." La Nueva Michoacana Mexican Ice-Cream Factory brought a taste of Michoacán—the birthplace of paletas—to Fort Smith, and they didn't stop at ice cream. Add in tostilocos, mangonadas 🥭, elote chorreado, tacos, tortas, and tamales, and it's clear this place is about a lot more than ice cream. With 40+ paleta flavors and a family that welcomes every visitor like they've been coming for years, it's the kind of stop that turns a quick visit into a favorite.

Meet someone who believes every scan tells a story, and every shift earns its rest.

Rachael Graham is a Van Buren native specializing in vascular sonography at Arkansas Vascular Solutions, the carotid and transcranial ultrasounds doctors rely on to catch problems early. She spent six years at University of Arkansas - Fort Smith earning her X-Ray and ultrasound credentials, the hard way: working at Geno's Pizza at sixteen, sleeping in her car between hospital shifts, then waking up for school at 8am. That grit built the tech she is today.

Off the clock, she's at See's Seafood, picking up a board from Amazing Graze Fort Smith along the way, she's even carried one straight to the hospital. She learned to line dance after meeting TK Rakoski, and you'll find her at Olive Coffee Company, conveniently always near wherever she's worked. She's inspired by small businesses, the ones still standing because their community shows up for them. Weekends are for camping with her family at the National Championship Chuckwagon Race in Clinton, AR, and fishing trips that start at Make A Wake Bait & Tackle rod and reel repair 🎣

Juneteenth is coming to The Bakery District! 🖤❤️💚 Last year, Fort Smith celebrated at the Riverfront—and this June, the festivities are back in a brand-new way with Chef Jasmine Williams bringing the block party energy to 7th Street.

Presented by Chef Jas in collaboration with Digs FS at The Bakery District, Miss K's Dance Bungalow, Larry B Shows, Prohibition Bar - Fort Smith, and more — the Juneteenth Block Party kicks off with a soul food brunch and rolls all the way through to an after-dark celebration featuring live music, a gospel choir, free food, free drinks, and so much more.

Her husband grew up on New Orleans snowballs, then moved to Arkansas and couldn't find one made the way he remembered 🍧

So they made their own. Kris is a Fort Smith girl who always knew she'd come home—he brought the bayou, she brought the roots. What started as one little trailer grew into The Rock, one of several year-round spots they run today, all an homage to his hometown: New Orleans soul, Saints pride, and Mardi Gras color in everything.

But ask why they really do it and it's not the snowballs, it's the kids. They've given first jobs to more than a hundred local teens, mentoring them and even letting the crew dream up new flavors. That young team is the real reason Da' Bayou Snowballs & Sweets works.

And the snowballs? soft, fluffy, Mardi Gras-style pours done the New Orleans way. Plus ice cream, energy drinks, freeze-dried candy, every topping you can think of, and a brand-new Snowball Sundae on the way. They cater, too.
