Tucked into the Northside of Fort Smith, Mama Dee's Place is turning heads with a menu built on family recipes and real Southern cooking. It's the work of Chef Jasmine Williams and Mama Dee, and it's already earned a perfect 5.0 stars ⭐ on Google—with visitors calling it exactly what soul food should taste like.

Friday nights, the kitchen stays open late (9:30 PM – 12 AM). Sundays bring a full sit-down dinner (12 PM - 6 PM), complete with Southern sides and a slice of Mama Dee's pound cake to finish it off.

Meet Crystal Eckles—a Fort Smith native making sure no family faces a hospital stay alone 💛

Crystal is our latest podcast guest, sharing how a decade in education led her into nonprofit work. Most people don't know Fort Smith has its own Ronald McDonald House Arkansas & North Louisiana— a free place to stay for families whose child is hospitalized.

Crystal serves as Strategic Partnerships Leader for the Fort Smith location, which has provided 11 free family rooms on the Mercy Hospital Fort Smith campus since 2021. University of Arkansas - Fort Smith graduate and former educator, she found a new passion for keeping families close to their children when it matters most, joining the team just over a year ago after a stint with the non-profit Big Picture Learning.

Outside of work, this 40-plus-year Fort Smith native enjoys watching the city's food scene, downtown, and Chaffee Crossing evolve, along with the ever-changing local education landscape.
