Today there are so many things happening on the Island and beyond!
I'm getting Spooky Galveston the Shop prepped to be open this summer which means daytime tours are closed today but just look! We are going to have a great little space with some really cool things and I'm so proud Spooky Galveston is growing again! This is only a small part of our inventory as I don't want our shelves to be empty as they go in! It's going to be a magical summer!

Did you know Spooky Galveston / Spooky Gin used to run a Rocky Horror Picture Show cast?
Fun fact! Spooky Gin was in the Almeda AMC Shadow cast in Houston in the 90's, she was a member of the Beautiful Creatures cast and then ran the T.H.E.M. cast at River Oaks, that cast by the way was in the Pride Parade in Houston one year as Spooky Gin has always been an ally & an advocate! Spooky Galveston's "Hidden" Pride Tour is a complete labor of love and she is so proud to offer this look at a part of Galveston's history that often gets swept under the rug. Spooky Galveston is closed for tours today Sunday May 31st as Spooky Gin is headed to Lake Charles for a concert! Fun fact in Louisiana they have a cryptozoological creature called a Rougarou or Larougarou; they are the same creature just with a slight difference in pronunciation depending on where in Louisiana you are!
But what is a Rougarou? It is a shapeshifter with the body of a man and the head of a wolf.
It lives in the swamps, & bayous, of South Louisiana and Acadiana.what is the Legend? It's Often used as a boogeyman story to scare children into behaving or to keep Catholics in line during Lent. There are famous works of art based off the Rougarou by George Rodrigue called
"Blue Dog" Paintings. And the Rougarou also has its own festival in Houma Louisiana https://rougaroufest.org/ according to the Festival page The Rougarou Fest is a FREE family-friendly festival with a spooky flair that celebrates the rich folklore that exists along the bayous of Southeast Louisiana. It showcases live music, cultural activities, children’s activities, Cajun food, the Krewe Ga Rou parade, and so much more. All proceeds go to the South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center, a nonprofit organization that is revolutionizing how we think, teach and learn about Louisiana’s disappearing coast.
