Happy 115th Birthday to the Queen of the Gulf. πŸ‘‘
For 115 years, the Grand Galvez has welcomed guests, witnessed history, survived storms, and created memories for generations.
From the moment she opened her doors on June 10, 1911, she became an icon of Galveston Island and remains one of the most beloved landmarks on the Texas coast.
Happy Birthday, Grand Galvez. Here's to the stories you've shared and the many more still to come. ❀️

✨️ This is what I see... ✨️
Peacock Alley 🦚 earned its name more than a century ago when ladies and gentlemen, dressed in their finest, would promenade back and forth on their way to the ballroom. It was a place to see and be seen.
When I walk through Peacock Alley today, I can't help but imagine the laughter, the conversations, the rustle of silk gowns, and the pride with which guests showed off their finery. Sometimes, in my mind's eye, they're still there.

Want to see what pain looks like? Here it is... I had such amazing guests this weekend and I have to say they made my tours so enjoyable. πŸ₯°
I know that I have many new followers so I am going to share a bit of my journey this last 8 months. I had double knee replacement in late November. My recovery was going so well. Easter Sunday I was doing my stretches and my knee buckled on me. I fell. My worst fear came true. As I lay on the floor my mind was racing! How can I get up? Who can help me? Both doors were locked and I didn't have my phone. I scooted on my bottom to the end of the bed by a bench, couldn't do it! Scooted to the head of my bed. I don't know how I got up. Pure adrenaline is what I'm thinking. I don't remember it.
I actually walked on it and did tours for 3 weeks before going to the doctor. I went because there was a huge indention above my right knee. I ruptured a tendon! I bawled like a baby when he told me I would need surgery. πŸ˜ͺ I was told it was nothing! I could resume normal activities in 2 days. So you could imagine how I felt when I woke up and had a brace from hip to ankle. The 1st thing they asked me was if I had someone to stay with me for 2 weeks? No!!!! I can't describe the pain the 1st two weeks. I doubled up on pain pills, even telling my Dr. I did so. I am 5 weeks out, smaller brace. No bending it at all. I really can't say that I have felt that PT is doing anything this time. My therapist assures me it's getting stronger. They said a tendon is much harder and slower to regain strength.
But you know what?!?! I'm doing this thing! I took this photo tonight after doing 2 back to back tours! The smile was pure relief when I sat in my car! 🀣 But again, I did it! (The mask is because of a whole other surgery on my eyes) 🎭 But that was nothing! πŸ€— Just still swollen.
If you made it this far, I applaud you πŸ‘ and appreciate you! The Ghostess is back! And will soon be better than ever! Y'all mean the world to me! πŸ’œ

This is what I see when I walk into the Music Hall. ✨️
Not just an empty ballroom.
I see weddings, laughter, music, celebrations, and the thousands of stories that have unfolded here since 1911. Every room in the Grand Galvez has a history, and sometimes it feels as though those moments are still lingering around us.
History leaves an imprint.
And perhaps that's why the Music Hall never feels completely empty to me. πŸ‘»βœ¨

After three sold-out tours this week this Ghostess is taking a well-earned day of rest!
I just wanted to say thank you. πŸ₯° Whether you've taken a tour, shared a post, left a review, recommended me to friends, or simply followed along on this journey... your support means more than you know. πŸ’œ
After everything this past year has brought, seeing these tours sell out has been incredibly humbling. Thank you for allowing me to share the history, mysteries, and spirits of the Grand Galvez with you.
Now if you'll excuse me, the Ghostess will be spending the day recharging while the permanent residents keep an eye on things. ✨️
