Grinding out a good one! Multiple close calls and lots of boot miles later MEGS Guide spotted this strutter in the field. Moments of quick scrambling, some strategic moves, and the distance was cut! MEGS Guide spotted this longbeard a Field feeding down the wood line along with multiple hens and several other Tom’s and Jake’s.
Having a high ground and already being in the wood line, they were able to get in front of the turkeys and start calling. MEGS Guide started doing some light hen calling which got a hen to come even closer to the wood line and this gobbler follower in half-strut. With many eyes on them the turkeys started to get uneasy, but we’re under 40 yards. The Hunter made a great shot & TSS dropped him in his tracks. www.MaineExperienceGuideService.com

MEGS Guide and PA Hunter were at the second stop of the hunt this morning when the Guide heard a gobble down in the field that they were going to! Guide and Hunter made a play & worked their way down the wood line to the field edge and got set up just in time as this Tom and Jake came around the corner at 90 yards. No time for a decoy, just old fashioned hiding, calling, shooting! The Tom kept cutting the Guide off every time he’d call and was coming in to see where the hen in the wood line was. As Turkeys often do, we expected him to come left and he went right 🤦🏻‍♂️. Hunter was able to make a great move without spooking the bird, took aim, and sent the TSS flying! Bird down! After several close calls, MEGS Guide and Hunter made their move on this Longbeard.
Using the multiple elevation changes in the field, they were able to cut the distance, then belly crawled over 100 yards where they popped up a Decoy and did some very soft calling to get this guy‘s attention. He came in with a hen and the hen was only 2 feet of the Decoy making things even that much more heart pounding. Hunter stayed calm and was able to put a very good shot on this turkey, TSS hit its mark and this strutter hit the dirt! www.MaineExperienceGuideService.com

MEGS Guide Matthew got his fiancé out after a bird! Roost did not work out, but that’s no problem. Just opens up the morning for run and gun! She was a trooper, they put on lots of boot miles, calling, sneaking around, trying to put plays on birds that are getting Wise to the game at this point in the month. Perseverance paid off as they found this Turkey that was willing to play! A well placed Decoy, a few hen calls, and some TSS down range that hit its target dropping him right in its tracks!
