May is National Barbecue Month, and there’s no better place to celebrate than at Wilbers BBQ. A true Eastern North Carolina tradition, Wilber’s has been serving up smoky chopped pork, crispy chicken, and classic sides for generations. Pull up a chair (or drive up to the "Q Thru"), grab a plate, and taste a legendary part of Goldsboro.

This Memorial Day, we will pause to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

In Goldsboro, reflection feels especially close to home. Visitors are invited to pay their respects at the Wayne County Veterans Memorial Park in Downtown Goldsboro (290 East Walnut Street), where each name and inscription stands as a lasting reminder of sacrifice and service.

Many also take time to visit the nearby North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (164 Longs Plant Farm Road), a peaceful resting place honoring those who served with courage and dedication.

Whether you spend the day in quiet reflection, attending a remembrance ceremony, or simply pausing to give thanks, may we never forget the cost of freedom, and those who paid it.

From the smoky aroma to the vinegar based sauce, every plate tells the story of Wayne County barbecue culture. Make your way to Goldsboro and taste why Eastern NC barbecue is worth the trip.
