We’re bringin’ y’all another episode of our “Feeling the Slower Pace” YouTube series to showcase the real stories and raw emotions of locals who call Terrebonne Parish home. This episode takes us out on the waterways of Bayou Country with Eddie, co-owner of PAC Kayak Marina at Oak Pointe RV. Life slows down, and the noise fades away. A lil taste of South Louisiana is headed north! On November 4, Taste Louisiana is bringin’ the flavors, music, and spirit of the Bayou to Chicago for one unforgettable evening, and sha, we’re excited to see a familiar face representin’ Houma.

Meet Chef Ryland Reed of Ember Kitchen + Cocktails. With 17 years of experience in the culinary industry, Chef Reed has spent years perfecting his craft in kitchens across Houma, including local favorites Flanagan’s and Fremin’s. His culinary journey even took him to Chicago for a short time before bringin’ him back home to the bayou, where he now shares his talents at Ember Kitchen + Cocktails.

Chef Reed will join 15 other talented Louisiana chefs for an evening celebrating the food and culture that make our state a bucket list destination. And you know it wouldn’t be a Louisiana celebration without a lil music! Guests can enjoy live performances by Wayne Toups and David St. Romain while tasting their way through our vibrant state.

Yesterday, we gathered for our 2026 Tourism Awards Luncheon to celebrate the folks who bring the spirit of Bayou Country to life every single day.

From the kitchens servin’ up authentic Cajun cookin’ to the storytellers keepin’ our heritage alive, these are the people who make our little corner of Louisiana unlike anywhere else. Their passion, hard work, and love for our community are what make Terrebonne Parish a place worth visiting and, more importantly, a place worth rememberin’.

We also shared a little extra love with Kyle Fringer, Casie Bean, and Mrs. Janie Luster, recognizing the kindness, generosity, and dedication they've shown in sharing our culture with visitors from near and far.

We also had the honor of presenting a special award to our very own Director of Sales, Angela Morehead, celebrating over 20 years of hard work, dedication, and service to the tourism industry. Her passion for sharin’ Louisiana’s Bayou Country is somethin’ truly special, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have her on our team.

We were especially honored to welcome Billy Nungesser Lt. Governor of Louisiana, who joined us to celebrate our award recipients and share a few words about the importance of tourism in Louisiana. A heartfelt thank you as well to our wonderful host, Tonya Harris, for helping make the celebration so special. Shoutout to CJ’s Catering for that good southern meal we shared.

At the end of the day, tourism is about so much more than the places people visit. It's about the people they meet, the stories they hear, the meals they share, and the memories they carry home.

To every award recipient, partner, and neighbor who pours their heart into Louisiana's Bayou Country, thank you. You're the reason our culture continues to thrive, our traditions live on, and visitors leave feelin’ like they've found a little piece of home.
