ATTENTION FELLOW SHELLERS:

Have you ever found a ‘Coffee Bean Trivia’? It’s a first for us! We found it this one this past weekend on our Shell Key Island tour!
The Coffee Bean Trivia closely resembles a True Cowrie, but they differ in features of their anatomy, usually by having smaller shells with “wrinkled” ridges, Cowries are usually very smooth and glossy.
Its small size (typically under an inch), it’s plump oval shape, and the distinct gap down the center of its back give it the appearance of a coffee bean. Also, the three pairs of dark brown spots you see help distinguish it from its unspotted northern relatives.
As the saying goes, “Great Things Come In Small Packages!”
