The biggest destination wedding mistake? Falling in love with a resort before figuring out if it actually works for your wedding. 👀💍

Before we recommend a resort to one of our destination wedding couples, we want answers to these 5 questions:

• What can your guests realistically afford?
Your dream resort still has to make sense for the people you want standing beside you.

• Where will most of your guests be traveling from?
Flight availability and how easy it is to actually get there matter.

• Are children invited?
This can immediately change which resorts even belong on your list.

• What do you want the entire wedding weekend to feel like?
Romantic and intimate? Big and lively? Luxury? Family-friendly? The vibe matters just as much as the venue.

• What are your absolute non-negotiables?
Private reception? Specific ceremony setting? Great food? Nightlife? Accessibility? Everyone’s list is different.

A resort can look perfect on Instagram and still be completely wrong for your wedding.

Destination weddings are selfish… or are they? 👀💍🌴

We’ve seen this debate EVERYWHERE lately, so as destination wedding specialists, we have to weigh in.

Wanting to get married somewhere you’ve always dreamed about doesn’t make you selfish.

But here’s the other side: your guests aren’t selfish if they can’t come, either.

A destination wedding asks people to travel, take time off work and spend money and a thoughtful couple understands that not everyone will be able to say yes.

The key? Give your guests plenty of notice, be transparent about costs, consider their experience when choosing a resort, and respect their decision either way. 🤍

It’s your wedding. It’s their choice. Both can be true.
