Some early bluebells on Virginius Island.

The new season is upon us. We have a new tour that we are offering this year. This is different than the regular 2.5 hour tour.

It is Virginius Island, which is an old town on the banks of the Shenandoah River during the industrial revolution in the mid 1800's.

This is also a 2 to 2.5 hour tour that will explore water power, industry, the people who lived there, as well as the floods that helped Mother Nature to reclaim the island, and the wildlife that covers the island today.

Old Tyme Christmas is being celebrated this year. It is the first and second weekends in December. The flow may be a little more subdued because of COVID, but the decorations will be out in full force.

Come on out and take a private tour while you are here.

We don't know when the next shutdown will happen. So come have a great tour while you can.

Maybe you don't want to spend the money for a full tour, but still want to soak in some Harpers Ferry history. From now until the end of October, the same guides that bring you the full Harpers Ferrytours are providing shorter tours in lower town for $10 per person.

These tours are filling the gap until the park rangers are back in operation providing stand up programs and history in the park. These tours are on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00and 2:00 on Both days.

You can sign up in the Hatpers Ferry Park Association booth shop tent on the town green in lower town.

Come on down and soak in some history.

Great day in the field today. Had a scheduled tour in the morning with a group who had a relative here in the 39th NC infantry. Did some great research and brought them to Halltown and schoolhouse ridge where their relative had been located while here.

2nd tour was the walk-up tour that we started up this weekend as a fill in until the Park Rangers are able to get back up and running. Had a school teacher on board who absorbed everything and may come back for a full length tour.

Come join the fun.
