Good Friday to everyone. I thought I'd post about our latest tropical update since it's definitely going to impact travel next week.
I have been watching what should be our first hurricane of the year, Erin, out in the Atlantic. She is expected to strengthen to a Category 3 hurricane right about the time it moves north of Puerto Rico on Sunday and then is expected to turn more northward after that and miss the US. 5 days from now (next Wednesday) it is expected to be pretty far off the US coast around the FL/GA state line. This will definitely impact cruises up and down the east coast next week with large waves and the path goes very close to Bermuda so ships may be re-routed from there. This has the potential to impact cruises leaving from ports ranging from FL all the way to NY, so if you are traveling, keep informed about the storm and potential impacts to your travel.
In addition, if you have any plans to go to the beach on the east coast next week, expect there to be rip current warnings in effect and they may be limiting access to the water. The surf and currents will be very dangerous so take care if you will be heading to the beach.
I'll keep an eye on this and post updates as things change.
I've included the model for the storm with this post.
