You catch 'em, we cut 'em! Quality fish filleting conveniently located behind the Salty Dawg Saloon. Through combining the two nicknames, Buttwhackers was born.

In the late 1980s, fish filleters were given the nickname "whackers" because they literally "whacked" (or filleted) halibut. Homer, Alaska is known as the halibut fishing capital of the world, and gradually fisherman came to use the nickname "Butts" as a shorthand to refer to the species, halibut. Buttwhackers was created in 2002 to provide the dock and fillet services to charters and independentl

y owned boats. Still today, we provide fisherman and captains alike with a location to unload and hang their catch, take photos, and of course, the show of 'whacking butts'.

Buttwhackers family! Heads up on some big news for 2025 Rockfish regulations straight from .official:

Pelagic Rockfish (black rockfish, duskies, dark, etc.): 2 per person/day.

Nonpelagic Rockfish (yelloweye, tiger, china, quillback, copper, etc.): 1 per person/day.

NO YELLOWEYE ROCKFISH RETENTION May 27 - June 30, 2025.

These regulations are about protecting these awesome, slow-growing fish. We appreciate everyone doing their part to fish smart and sustainably!

Heads up, anglers! The 2025 halibut charter fishing regulations have been released. Here’s what you need to know:

🎣 Daily limit: 2 halibut
🐟Size restrictions: One fish can be any size, the other must be 27 inches or less.
❌Closures: No halibut retention on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Let the planning begin! 🗓️
