WOW, after the first 5 days of the season, all I can say is this has been FUN! The best part of what we do as Captains/Guides is to share this amazing experience with our guests and to watch them enjoy what's best described as an "Underwater Easter Egg Hunt"! One week to go....are you "Red Eddie" to go SCALLOPING? As we usually do before the Scallop Season, opens here in Homosassa, next Wednesday, July 1st, my Tuesday, aka Nadeene Stuart-Horak, and I went out scouting yesterday, on our 383rd Tuesday, IYKYK!! The water in the Gulf of Margaritaville was pristine clean, you could see the scallops from the boat, and the temperature was a very balmy, 94 degrees!

Shhh... it's a secret, don't tell ANYONE, we found them at EVERY place we stopped yesterday! Which indicates that we are going to have another banner season!! Scallop season here in Old Homosassa opens in 11 days on Wednesday, July 1st and runs through September 24th!! You can feel the excitement growing! The season has already opened to the North of us in Steinhatchee, located in Taylor County and they are reporting easy, fast limits!! We are looking forward to another bountiful season!! We got our limit on the last day of the season last year! Please don't keep the small ones, (all scallops boats should have a size sorter), give them a chance to grow and spawn.
