John’s Shoe Hospital on 829 Central Avenue in Hot Springs lost its lease and will be closing in June. With its opening, in the late 1800’s at a location closer to the fountain downtown, it is one of the oldest businesses in Hot Springs.

John's Shoe Hospital has been a shoe repair shop in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas for more than 100 years.'

Attention Hot Springs National Park enthusiasts: This is not a drill.

This Friday, March 17, the Fordyce Bathhouse Visitor Center and Museum will reopen to the public with all new exhibits on the first and second floors! The new displays replace those originally installed in 1989 when the Fordyce Bathhouse reopened as the park visitor center. They've got everything:

🤩 Archival photographs
🤩 Museum artifacts
🤩 Geological displays
🤩 Stuff to TOUCH!

The Fordyce will be open from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Friday and will continue to follow its regular operating schedule. Stop by and check us out while you're in town! You won't want to miss this!

Did you know 45 species of algae live in the thermal springs at Hot Springs National Park including the cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) found in the administration building's thermal springs fountain. Cyanobacteria is sometimes considered part plant and part animal because it is not a true typical algae.

Hot Springs Gets Top Spot in Top Ten Arkansas Adventure Towns

The new survey has some surprises and also demonstrates that some places are made for adventure. We had 200 people respond with almost 600 votes. We decided that we would list the top 10 instead of the top 5 this time around.
