Dogs 1 - Kudo 0 😮 🐾 They always travel as a pack, led by a strong female, and their pups always eat first. When it comes to family, few do it better than the African Wild Dog — also known as the Painted Wolf, Painted Dog, or Cape Hunting Dog. Whatever you call them, these incredible canids are truly remarkable and urgently need our conservation efforts, with fewer than 6,000 remaining in the wild. (🎥 coming soon)

We were at the right place, at the right time, to witness these efficient hunters kill a Kudu. After the kill, we quietly sat eye-level to observe this magnificent endangered species. Spending private time watching their interactions is a bucket-list moment. 🥰

This particular pack of wild dogs was almost wiped out last year due to canine distemper but 3 dogs survived — turning the pack into 11. 🐾

Today on , we celebrate rhinos for who they are and give them our collective promise not to let them disappear.

It’s a spiritual experience to see a rhino in the wild. And increasingly rare with dwindling numbers due to massive poaching/slaughter for a horn that is not medicinal.

Africa 360 will never stop fighting for this magnificent species who are under constant threat. We will keep doing our part in the effort to save and protect them and hope you will too. 🦏

Zambia is one of the few remaining African countries where viable populations of the most social of the big cats, namely lions, occur within the greater Kafue National Park ecosystem, home to the country’s second largest population. In Kafue’s north lies a vast wilderness – the 90 000-hectare Busanga Plains.

If you want to try somewhere completely different in Africa, try Busanga in Kafue NP. You won’t be disappointed!

Lion Camp is an intimately private lodge situated in the most northern reaches of the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia.

Zambia is known for a truly authentic safari experience and Lion Camp doesn’t disappoint.

South Luangwa is one of the most exclusive, remote and abundant game-viewing areas of Africa. During the dry season (May to October), game viewing is impressive with sightings of lion, leopard, wild dog, large herds of elephant and buffalo, the unique Thornicroft’s giraffe, Cookson’s wildebeest, Crawshay’s zebra and incredible birds.

Lion Camp offers guided walking safaris or game drives – with no more than four guests per activity – lead by well-trained, enthusiastic guides. If you are interested in birds, wildlife or spectacular landscapes, Lion Camp is a photographer’s dream.

Zambia’s Eco-Friendly Puku Ridge Camp reopened last November at the birthplace of the walking safari.

Newly renovated with no detail left unattended, this South Luangwa safari lodge blends style and comfort seamlessly with nature.

Puku Ridge is wilderness, refined – from the elegant architectural lines to the thoughtfully outfitted game viewing vehicles and the perfectly-positioned photographic hide in front of the camp’s private watering hole.

Welcome to Sungani!

Family owned and operated; Sungani Lodge is set in the natural beauty of Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park situated on the edge of an enormous lagoon. Sheltered by magnificent indigenous trees, the lodge blends seamlessly into the landscape.

The lodge has been designed with privacy and relaxation in mind. Beautiful interiors showcase a love of raw materials, classic lines and longevity. The entire lodge is built on elevated decking overlooking the lagoon.

You will love your large luxury (air conditioned) guest suite set atop polished concrete floors offering approx. 1150 square feet interior space with an adjoining deck and private plunge pool. Upgrade to the Director’s Suite if you want DSTV and a treehouse style upper deck with star bed with sweeping views of the lagoon.

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” -African Proverb (10 pics)

Our time in the Timbavati (western Kruger) has come to an end but our memories and friendships will last a lifetime.

We spent 5 nights with the Wild Dog Festival Safari group hosted by the amazing Margot Raggett from book series with guest conservationists from Painteddog.tv and Grant Beverley

Knowledge runs deep with this crew and the passion to conserve and protect wild dogs (and other endangered wildlife) is contagious.

Our sightings were off the hook with a lioness digging out a warthog burrow to claim her prize, a leopard in sunlight relaxing on a fallen tree, multiple white rhinos grazing together, two honey badgers scurrying across the plains, five of the Birmingham male lions gorging on a giraffe carcass, African wild dogs guarding the den, breeding herds of elephants feeding peacefully and hyena cubs with mum.

It takes courage to save a species amidst the increasing demands to raise money. These experts are world-class in their field and laser focused on making a difference. They endure the horrific side of human-wildlife conflict, snaring and poaching, yet rise above to ensure these species survival for the next generation.

It was an honor for AFRICA 360 to spend time with them. We will always remember their stories from the bush, immense belly laughs and shared passion for wildlife conservation.
