Which Side of the Train Is Best?

Train: The left side is best when ascending to the Summit. If your trip includes the loop in the track, the left side on the way up becomes the right side on the return to Skagway.

If the train isn’t fully booked, you’re welcome to move to open seats within your own car. Moving between cars while the train is in motion is discouraged for safety reasons. Ask your car attendant or conductor, and ideally do this before departure.

Something I wish more people knew before booking an Alaska cruise👇🏻

If you or someone you’re traveling with has a DUI or misdemeanor drug charge on your record, even an old one, we need to talk before we do anything else.

Most Alaska cruise itineraries pass through Canada. That means every passenger goes through a Canadian border check, whether they’re getting off the ship or not. Canada has strict inadmissibility laws, and a DUI, no matter how long ago, can result in being denied boarding entirely.

The official waiver process exists, but it takes over a year and costs around $300 just to apply. In most cases, it makes more sense to look at alternative itineraries that don’t cross into Canadian waters.
This isn’t meant to embarrass anyone, it’s just one of those things that’s a lot easier to handle at the start of planning than after you’ve already booked.

A little Ted Talk from your travel advisor:

Why do you need travel insurance?
Because you genuinely never know what’s going to happen. Ever.

I had a client get sick on a trip and miss a private tour they’d been looking forward to for months. We’re talking a significant chunk of change… But because they had travel insurance? They got reimbursed. All they needed was a doctor’s note that they got from a quick $80 telehealth visit. The missed experience, the $80 from the visit, nearly all of it back.

I’ve seen it happen more than once. Medical emergencies. Flight delays that turn into missed connections. Lost luggage. Trip interruptions. These things are not rare😒 they happen to real people on real trips, including to myself! I always make sure I have coverage!

The policy usually costs less than a nice dinner out and having the peace of mind is worth significantly more than that.

You don’t think you need it… until the moment you really, really do.

If you’re booking a trip and skipping travel insurance to save a few dollars, I’m going to gently but firmly push back on that every single time. It’s part of how I take care of the people I work with.

I’m heading back up to Alaska for a week in August this summer and I’m taking my Grandma with me☺️

If anyone remembers me sharing about my Grandma that I took on that hot air balloon ride last summer?

Well she’s turning 85 this year and she really knows how to talking me into just about anything she wants🤣 not that it’s very hard to talk me into an adventure😋 especially Alaska since I miss it so much after spending half a year there…

I am so excited that my Grandma will finally get to have this experience!

Where is everyone going for summer this year?!?

I’m having major travel withdrawals right now because my next trip isn’t until mid August and by then it will be 5 months since my last trip in March😩

I know, I sound crazy but going months without a trip is hard for me at this point😅

That’s why I’ll be trying to go on small camping weekends as much as possible but this summer is already jam packed with weddings, grad parties, and family events so I’ll be sticking around town for the most part this summer.
