Yes, travelers are already planning vacations for 2028 and 2029—and there are practical reasons to start early.

Celebrity Cruises has opened new Alaska, Hawaii and South America sailings for its 2028–2029 season, adding more possibilities for travelers considering a milestone celebration or bucket-list journey.

Planning early isn’t about creating artificial urgency. It gives you time to compare itineraries, identify your preferred cabin type, coordinate vacation schedules and create a realistic payment plan.

When you're choosing a cruise, how much does the destination experience matter compared with the ship itself?

That's becoming a much bigger question.

Carnival recently brought six Caribbean, Bahamas and Mexico destinations together under its Paradise Collection—including Celebration Key, RelaxAway at Half Moon Cay, Isla Tropicale, Amber Cove, Grand Turk and Puerta Maya.

But here's the part that matters to travelers:

Those aren't six versions of the same beach day.

Some are designed primarily around a resort-style destination experience. Others give travelers access to local culture, history, beaches and activities beyond the port.

That's why I always want to know what someone means when they say:

“I want a Caribbean cruise.”

Do you want the ship to be the main attraction?

Do you want incredible beach days?

Do you want to explore the destination?

Or do you want some of each?

The answer can completely change which cruise I recommend.

When does “Kids Sail Free” actually provide meaningful value for a family?

Royal Caribbean’s current promotion includes 60% off the second guest on eligible new bookings through October 5. On select sailings, children age 12 and younger traveling as additional guests may receive a $0 cruise fare when booked by September 14.

The important phrase is “select sailings.” Holiday periods, school breaks and other dates may be excluded, and taxes, fees and port expenses still apply to every guest.

Before choosing a cruise based on the promotion, compare the total vacation cost, available staterooms and whether the itinerary fits your family.

Disney has given us another reason to look ahead to 2027.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is scheduled to open at Walt Disney World on July 1, 2027, and the first look at the guest rooms shows something a little different from the typical Disney resort experience—more nature, more space and several accommodation styles designed for very different types of travelers.

There will be everything from smaller studios to larger villas and waterfront Lake Houses.

And that's exactly why I don't think choosing a Disney resort should simply come down to, “Which one is cheapest?”

Where you stay can influence the pace, convenience and overall feel of the entire vacation.

For a family that wants to slow down a little after busy park days, a resort like this could become part of the experience—not simply the place where you sleep.

Not automatically the biggest cruise ship.

And definitely not simply whatever option happens to be the cheapest.

Your time away is valuable.

So let's build it around what matters to you.

Relaxation.

Adventure.

Family time.

Great food.

New destinations.

Favorite places.

Or maybe just seven days where nobody expects you to answer another email. 😂
