We’re proud to share that Incline Village has launched the “Worm” (Wildfire Fuels Mitigation Project), a two-phase, 142-acre initiative by the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District (NLTFPD) in partnership with IVGID to bolster wildfire resilience above Mt. Rose Hwy.

🪱Known for its winding shape, this strategic project will establish a 132-foot-wide buffer zone between the forest and homes, strengthening our community’s defense while preserving natural aesthetics and wildlife habitat.

Phase 1 began the week of July 14, 2025, spanning ~64.5 acres and is expected to be completed in 4–5 weeks. Phase 2 will treat an additional ~78 acres, with work planned through summer 2026.

To reduce brush fuel safely and effectively, BurnBot, Inc. is deploying remote-operated mastication machines—quiet, low-impact technology that protects homes while maintaining that “natural” forest fee offering the following benefits:

🌲Enhances community safety by creating defensible spaces and improving firefighter access.
🌲Preserves our forest’s beauty by keeping 10–15% of native brush intact for wildlife.
🌲Demonstrates local leadership in wildfire preparedness through thoughtful planning and collaboration.

Thunderbird Lodge and Yacht - Lake Tahoe wanted to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience for local youth — and it all started with one idea: let’s give deserving kids a chance to ride the legendary Thunderbird Yacht on Lake Tahoe's blue waters.

We teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe and launched (pun intended 🤣) a Sustainability Art Contest for Club members in Incline Village. The challenge? Show us through art how you care for Lake Tahoe and envision a more sustainable future.

The top 10 young artists - chosen by the Thunderbird Crew - will get to set sail aboard the Thunderbird on August 11!

Big thanks to everyone helping make this dream a reality for these amazing kids!

🚍 The East Shore Express is back!

Heads up! Most Sand Harbor parking reservations for the rest of the summer—including Labor Day weekend—are sold out, but not if you arrive via the East Shore Express.

The East Shore Express is a reliable, stress-free and sustainable way to visit Sand Harbor this summer, even with no reservations available! Skip the parking hassle and hop on the East Shore Express—running daily between Incline Village and Sand Harbor from 10am to 6pm through September 6.

As a community dedicated to responsible tourism and protecting our public lands, we encourage visitors to ride instead of drive. Fewer cars mean less congestion, lower emissions, and a better experience for everyone. Plus, this is your ticket to Sand Harbor on a summer weekend!

Eastbound trips to Sand Harbor run until 3pm after which the park stops accepting new visitors by car or shuttle. Return service to Incline continues until 6pm. The park stays open until one hour past sunset—plenty of time to soak in the lake.

Beach gear and coolers are welcome (limit one load per person), and bikes can ride too if space allows. Please help us keep the ride pleasant for all: no pets, smoking, eating, drinking, or flammable items on board.
