Yes, I am finally home, but WHAT a fantastic adventure in Africa!!! 🦓🐒🦩🐘
I am slowly returning to an EST timeframe but I still think it’s bedtime around 7pm! 😴
I wanted to say thanks for all the people who followed me during my trip and commented on my post! It was definitely the trip of a lifetime! The African people were so kind and welcoming, and it was a pleasure to visit both Kenya and Tanzania.
Collette Tours was AMAZING!!! I can’t wait to plan my next adventure with them! South America, maybe? Hummmm…..
The last day of sightseeing was at the Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania. The crater floor covers over 100 square miles, the walls rise up to over 2000 feet, it was formed roughly 2 to 3,000,000 years ago after a GIANT volcano erupted and collapsed. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of Africa’s 7 Natural Wonders. It is the world's largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera, located in northern Tanzania.
It is literally filled with animals! We saw tens of thousands (seemed like more) wildebeest and zebras, lions, hippos, rhinos, a few elephants, flamingos, and a ton of antelope, as well as many species of beautiful birds!
We had a picnic inside the crater on the shores of the lake, full of hippopotamus. We actually ran into a couple from Aiken, South Carolina, who had just climbed Mount Kilimanjaro! Small world!🏔️
For some reason, it’s not letting me post any videos so I will show you some still pictures and post videos later.
We then proceeded on to the beautiful lodge for our last night in Tanzania. I’ll post pictures of the Lodge in another post.
