Ryan brought his two sons Colin and Max out for a half day.

Thunderstorms sat on us all morning so we pushed the departure back. When it cleared, the current was running straight under the boat and the flat lines would not set up on the reef edge. So we picked up and went patch hopping.

Tough fishing. Those boys never quit. About a dozen snappers in the box.

They walked them straight into Lazy Days for dinner. Hard to beat that.

Tampa family mahi hunt.

Chris and Jamie brought Bronson, Brock, and Grandma Dawn down for an offshore run. First birds in 450 feet looked right but had nobody home, so we kept hunting instead of burning too deep.

We worked w**d edges, birds, turtles, and scattered life. Not red hot. Still came home with 10 schoolies and a teenager.

Naples crew mahi grind.

Jack brought his son Jack and Darren offshore, and we ran all the way to 2,000 feet hunting w**d patches. Fish stayed asleep until noon. Birds finally showed, the mahi woke up, and a turtle in 850' gave up one more before bugging out.

Finished with 14 keepers.

Graduation present, DirtyBoat style.

Dan brought Jacob from Mount Dora before Tallahassee and college baseball. We caught pilchards on the patches, checked the 409 Hump, fought tuna traffic, chased frigate birds, and finally got paid in 1,500' on the swordfish ledge.

Finished with a dozen mahi and a dock photo that beats anything wrapped in a box.

Alan, Lisa, MaryPat and Emily have fished with us enough that they skip the walkthrough. This time they brought grandma, grandpa and cousin Antonia. Three generations aboard.

East wind 10 to 15 and a short 4 second sea. Two to 3 feet at 4 seconds is a washing machine. The same height at 8 seconds is a rocking chair.

Fish in the box by 9. Then it caught up with Antonia, so we ran in.

No medal for making a kid tough out a rough morning. Knowing when to turn around is part of the job.
