There’s something special about a father and daughter sharing a day in the Maine woods, chasing one of the most challenging and beautiful game birds we have. We were honored to be a small part of this memory and to share the Maine wilds and the great pursuit of ruffed grouse in Maine.

A guide’s breakfast done right. 🥣🌲

A beautiful bowl of “Spreadin’ Lead Oatmeal” — loaded with brown sugar, blueberries, cranberries, nuts, flaxseed, and chia seeds, and a bit of vanilla bourbon. Healthy, hearty, and downright delicious fuel for a day in the grouse woods.

Good food. Hot coffee. Bird dogs waiting by the door. That’s how we like to start a morning at Maine Upland.

Some moments are worth slowing down for.

Dave and his Brittany take a closer look at the beautiful tail feathers of a freshly pointed and harvested ruffed grouse. The point, the flush, the shot—and then a moment of appreciation for one of the North Woods’ most remarkable game birds.

It’s more than the harvest. It’s the dog work, the tradition, and a genuine respect for the bird that makes a day in the grouse woods memorable.

Grouse feathers on the tailgate, cups raised, and another day in the Maine woods worth celebrating. The birds are part of it—but the stories, the laughs, and the people you share them with are what bring you back.
