In the 19th and early 20th centuries in Yellowstone National Park, Fishing Cone became famous for the “cook your catch” trick. Anglers would stand on the shore or in a boat, catch a fish from the lake, and—without moving—swing the fish around into the cone to cook it in the boiling water. This became a popular stunt for visitors and photographers.
While the story of the Fishing Cone is a legendary part of Yellowstone history, fishing or cooking in the cone is strictly prohibited today to protect the fragile geothermal environment and ensure visitor safety. 📸
