Darwin Ranch Our maximum of 16 guests schedule their own days during their week-long stay. Choose from horseback riding, fly fishing, hiking, climbing, and pack trips.

Located just outside of Jackson, Wyoming, life at the ranch is rustic & comfortable with fabulous food, an elegant lodge, electricity from the creek, modern plumbing, plenty of books, and a piano. The Darwin Ranch has been catering to wilderness enthusiasts ever since 1965, when Loring Woodman first began renovating the old log cabins at the Gros Ventre River crossing where the original, now oblit

erated, pioneer wagon track starts its long descent into Jackson Hole. We are 22 miles inside the Bridger-Teton National Forest over such a long dirt road that we have this last, totally isolated section of the Gros Ventre River valley — officially designated “Wilderness” in 1984 — very much to ourselves. Tell us what you are interested in. We can probably arrange it.

Darwin in the snow is another world entirely. Wildlife comes closer, and caretakers spend their days staying warm inside or out exploring on skis or snowmobiles. The season is long, but summer is on the horizon.
